Morrison inspired by new signing

Wednesday 21st January 2009, 11:26AM GMT.

VILLA ALBION 10 DH 6Albion star James Morrison says he is relishing the chance to link up with Marc-Antoine Fortuné – because the new signing can help improve his game.

The injured Morrison believes Fortuné’s arrival helped midfield colleague Robert Koren produce a season’s best performance in the 2-1 win against Middlesbrough.

And Morrison says the big Frenchman can help him too after a number of the midfielder’s friends at Boro complimented the Baggies new boy after the match on Saturday.

“He did really well on his debut against Boro,” said Morrison, who is aiming to return from his hamstring injury at Hull on January 31.

“He looks like he can hold up the ball and cause defenders problems.

“A couple of the Boro lads remarked afterwards he’d been a handful.

“Marc works really hard for the team and let’s hope his ‘lucky’ goal sets him off on a run.

“‘Roko’ (Koren) certainly benefitted from Marc being in the team as he was able to play off him and get forward.

“I’ll be looking to do the same when I’m back to fitness.”

Morrison has been sidelined since straining a hamstring in the local derby defeat at Villa 10 days ago.

And he will sit out Saturday’s FA Cup meeting with Burnley at The Hawthorns and next Tuesday’s home clash with Manchester United in the Premier League. But he says he is still on target to return at the KC Stadium four days later.

“I did my first bit of running yesterday,” said Morrison.

“Considering I only got injured ten days ago it felt good , touch wood. The Hull away game on Saturday week remains my comeback target.

“I’m gutted to be missing the next two matches . I hate missing any games, but I’ve had a few knocks recently, come back after only a couple of days’ training and suffered another niggle.

“I think the plan is for me to have a full week’s training to ensure I’m fully recovered.”

Meanwhile, Morrison has warned his team mates not to come a cropper against the Clarets on Saturday by looking ahead to the United clash.

“No-one will be taking them lightly, that’s for sure,” he said.

“It took us two games to get past a lower league team in the previous round and Owen Coyle’s side have already shown they can be a match for Premier League opposition.”

I hope that we can carry the momentum forward with home matches and beat Burnley, then get some kind of positive result against United.
I’d like to see what tactics TM will have in place with the Man United match on Tuesday and Hull away next Saturday…..is he going to prioritise again??
If so, I’d definitely be looking at Hull away as a winnable match, but you can’t play a weakened team against Man United at home!!

ok!!! wasnt impressed with the news of the world calling us the worst team in premiership who the hell do they think they are!!! anyways the offside by chris brunt, it was 2nd phase which means he was not technically offside… YES when the ball was crossed he was offside, he did not make a move towards the ball therefore NOT interferring with play so linesman cannot flag, if the boro player cannot clear further than brunt then it it nobodys fault but his own ( and by this time brunty back on side)!!! and it was off a boro player as well.. FACT papers get over yourselves

LOL the News Of The World and the Sun

I dont think anyone should even consider taking these rags seriously, bloody hell they even have the temerity to call themselves NEWSPAPERS.
Whatever is happening in the world, terrorism, Palestine, the meltdown of the economy, etc,
on the front pages of these two bastions of c*** you can be sure they will report at length about prince Harrys cold, or the latest dysfuntional pleb to be ejected from the big brother house, or the rubbish ice dancing by that actor.

Buy yourself a decent paper! May cost a little more but as the saying goes “you get what you pay for”.

Wouldn’t wipe my **** with the Sun or NoTW anyway let alone buy them – these papers make a big thing of being “working class” but spent the entire 80’s up Maggie Thatchers rear end! Tory rubbish, always have been no matter how they try to market themselves – ask Liverpool supporters what they think of the Sun in relation to Hillsborough!

Most newspapers are struggling to survive now, the internet and TV have seen to that so it has to be sensational to sell. The Star at 20p is value if you want football and a good cryptic crossword, but you have to paddle through oodles of naked girls to find them. Back in 1940/50 we used to share The Naturist just to get a look at…well nothing really. How times change. I spent 5 years at WBGS from 1942 to 1947 and in our very last week we were allowed to join the girls from our class in the Swimming Baths. They had 2 arms each, 2 legs each and were dressed in blue ’sugar bag’ tunics. Well, that’s what went in to the dressing rooms, but these rather attractive females entered the water! All that time wasted! 5 years of it! Ah well, back to football. Burnley on Saturday, Man.U. on Tuesday…anyone for tennis?

Terry, I hope we do the same at The Vine this year then I can cuddle your missus again mate. Celebrating staying up hey? I hope you’re right about the Man.U. match but shall we have any defenders in full working order? Who’s this Big Brother you keep on about? Not to my taste at all. Saft!
