Job cuts at half of firms

Nearly half of the manufacturing companies in the Black Country have cut their workforce in recent months and around a third expect to make more job cuts in the months to come, a new report revealed today.

A survey of businesses across the area by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce found six out of 10 manufacturers expect their turnover to fall and 86 per cent said factories would be running below full capacity.
