Armed raiders burst into a Dudley restaurant and threatened staff before fleeing with cash. The masked robbers may have been posing as workmen.
They took the money from Nando’s Restaurant in Castlegate Way.
Two thugs wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, and one wearing a high-visibility jacket, were carrying a weapon believed to be a gun.
They threatened staff before stealing cash and running out of the restaurant.
No-one was injured in the raid which happened on Saturday at 9.10am.
Staff at Nando’s refused to comment on the robbery.
Workers at neighbouring properties at the Castlegate restaurant and entertainment complex said this was the second attack at Nando’s in the past four months. They said there were often genuine workmen around wearing fluorescent jackets.
The robbery follows an attack just last month on a security guard delivering cash at Tesco’s superstore.
Two thugs wielding crowbars robbed the guard and fled in a car with a “large quantity of cash”.
The robbers pounced on the man around lunchtime.
The silver getaway car sped off along Tividale Road towards Dudley Road East.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact CID at Dudley on 0845 113 5000.
