Summer transfer target Oscar Trejo is hoping for fresh talks with Albion over a January move to the Hawthorns.
The agent of the 20-year-old Argentine striker reckons he is keen for a meeting with Baggies officials, to pick up the transfer talks that began in the close season.
Albion manager Tony Mowbray made the Real Mallorca youngster one of his top transfer targets at the start of the season but the deal floundered, over the La Liga’s club’s asking price in excess of £4million.
Agent Martan Paledes said: “There is a possibility to move Trejo but we need to think carefully about it and find out exactly what West Bromwich want to do.
“We are waiting for a meeting with West Bromwich and we will see what they want. Mallorca want the player and West Bromwich want him, so we will have to try to help both and help the player.
“We are very interested in taking him to the Premier League and to West Bromwich. “They are a very friendly club with us and have very nice people. We have good relations and we will try to help them.”
Trejo is now said to be open to the prospect of a move to The Hawthorns but the future of the player still rests with his current club.
Mowbray has admitted he must sell players before he can spend on transfer fees and the Baggies have received no signals suggesting a loan deal is on the agenda for the La Liga club.
While the manager remains an admirer of Trejo, he is reluctant to pin all of his team’s survival hopes on the shoulders of a young player.
Mowbray said: “He hasn’t played a lot of football for Mallorca this year and we need players who can come in and make an impact. When Trejo was on the radar last year it was a case of trying to build up a squad.
“He was a young player and I wasn’t thinking he was going to knock the Premier League over and score 20 goals. He is a talented boy who plays in an area of the pitch that I thought would have helped our team.”

A club of nice people, yes our left back gives away goals, very nice.
Only kidding, doesnt sound like this deal will get off the ground, we havent got the dosh, they dont want to loan him out, and Mowbray thinks hes more of one for the future.
We need a here and now striker!!

how about getting Kevin Philips in, he’s banging them in and got premiership experience!

What about Henrik Larrson. I hear he’s free. Surely he’d be useful even just to have around the place.

letting kp go plus gera two decisions coming back to haunt the club

Henrik Larsson is a free agent at the moment!!! He’s 36 but I’d have him!!!

According to reports henrick larson is a free agent at 37 some people may think it would be a Brian Robson signing, but until the end of the season i think he would be a good signing, great goal scorer, a top athlete for his age, would offer vital experience and a great mentor to our reasonably young strikeforce. I think thats one thing we need an ex striker in the coaching staff as mowbray and venue were both defenders, peter grant and appleton were midfielders and corrigon was a goalie. Boing Boing

Just to remind a few folk and put the record straight: KP WAS offered a 2nd year extension on his contract; with the proviso that he played in 19 games in year 1, including sub appearances. IMO, that should have been enough for logical reasons but it was KP who made the decision to move away. His alone. Similarly with ZG, he chose to move on. Let’s stop blaming the Manager and The Chairman on those two, please.

we need a finisher on short term deal just to save us this season….henrik larsson, robbie fowler, lee hughes???

TM has bought 6 useless strikers during the time he’s been Albion’s manager.Looking at this player’s record, it seems as if ToMo has spotted his 7th.Trejo is as much use as a striker as a Swan Vesta underwater.

Blimey when will you lot get over the Phillips thing? he is a championship striker and did not fancy the prem that is why he left. If you are still in any doubt look at his record in his last couple of seasons with Villa 20 appearnces + 3 sub 4 goals. as he is now 2 years older what makes people think he could have been the answer? if Blues come up he will move again or just sit in the stand and take his cash.

Henrik Larsson would suit me!

Larsson is going to everton! I agree with Alfie(8) KP knew he would not be able to cope with the premiership he’s gone forget him it’s so boring. Do you not think that if he thought he could cope with 19, 10 min cameo appearances he would have stayed!!

If Henrik Larrson came to The Shrine, I’d be very surprised, but in a good way!
Ronaldo is a free agent too (the original one, not the one that Roman Bednar is better than) but I really doubt that would happen either.
Let’s see what happens with Trejo, I’ve got a funny feeling this will happen.

Remember when the season was about to start and everyone was full of anticipation and hope. Hold onto those feelings and enjoy the premiership ride!! Look at it like the big dipper rides…..slow climb upwards, rapid descent to the bottom then ups and downs to the end. Onwards and upwards.

11. Totally agree we need to look to the future and a solution from the options available (realistic) not harp on about KP and Gera.
Whatever Wolves or Blues achieve this season can only match the Trophy in our cupboard a year later with more money backing them.
Whatever we do in Jan can we make sure JP and ToMo don’t guarantee loans become permanent in July unless we maintain prem status. Also Yakubu’s injury will make it difficult to get someone in if Everton stick there noses in. We should be keeping our intentions secret until a deal is struck.
When will the commercial department sort out the shirt sponsorship deal. What a laughing stock they have made us look. Top 20 in England, the best league in the world and we can’t get a sponsor. That doesn’t sell the club to potential loanees or signings either. Let’s get it right and we still have half a chance of survival - assuming the board match the ambition of the fans.

Before a ball was kicked, i predicted we would finish about 15/16thish after a initial struggle, well we’re in the struggle period now and i still stand by that prediction so long as we can learn lessons from the errors we are making during this difficult period.
1. Goalscorer. Or lack of! Ironically KP would’ve been taylor-made for the 4-5-1 system IN HIS PRIME, i’m not so sure now, but it seems he WAS sure and drifted off to the coke div!
2. Playing football in front of well organised defensives. We have to do more stuff like we did against Wigan on sat. Stretch teams, get behind defences and ask questions of them, be more confident to go at teams and put them on the back foot.
3. Defending. Particulary headers. Robbo gets out jumped too easily, not his fault he’s a short*** but at least he has a go, Zuvverloon doesn’t even bother jumping most of the time, i’m sure if Peter Crouch isn’t already aware of this it will be brought to his attention before sat!
If we can get at least 2 of the 3 above right, asap, i see plenty to be positive about particulary as there are at least 6 or 7 other teams roughly on a par with us!

in my opinion,we should have not gone into the prem. unprepared,it dont work if you will not put up the money unfortunately.in holland where i live there is a team called volendamf.c every year for the last ten or so they have been promoted to the top div. and relegated the next, its always a interesting season, but worringly my dutch mates have started calling them the dutch baggies,be warned!!!!!p.s nobody over here has ever heard of s.mcdonald only his mom, keep the faith

I think getting rid of Phillips will get cost Mowbray his job, also Mowbray and the players are driving me mad they seem to talk and talk say the same thing that there going to do this this and this and yet the end result is still the same its now the time to roll your sleeves up and let the football do the talking

Ronaldo are you joking seriously why would we spend like 40k per week on a has been. OK if we had him at least pukka pies would sponsor us.
