Paul Robinson has urged Albion to reward their fans with a victory as a 3,000-strong Baggies army prepares to march on Wigan.
Another mammoth away following will watch the Baggies try to end a seven-match winless run against an inconsistent Latics side. Robinson believes the supporters deserve a return to winning ways.
Robinson said: “The number doesn’t surprise me with our fans. Week in, week out they get behind us 100 per cent and travelling away from home they are different class. We’ve got to go there now and do something for those fans.
“We’ve got to make those 3,000 fans go home happy on Saturday as well as the players and the most important thing is to keep the club moving forwards with three points.”
The Albion defensive lynchpin has warned the Baggies face a tough task to beat former Hawthorns loanee goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, who has rebuilt his injury-ravaged career since leaving Liverpool for the JJB Stadium.
The defender will also be wary of Jason Koumas, if the former Albion star gets off the Wigan bench.
Robbo said: “It will be nice to catch up with those lads again. I speak to Kirky quite regularly to see how he is getting on and to see how his family are. He is in top form at the moment.
“It will be a tough task to get the ball past him but we’ve got to believe we can do that. Koumy has had an up and down time since he has been there but he is a fantastic player. He can create a lot and score important goals.
“They have some dangerous players that we have to be careful of. On his day Koumy is a very dangerous player and we have to be careful of what he can do.
“As a group of players we want this club to go forwards as much as possible and we want the fans to be happy. Looking at the table and seeing what you need to catch up is not a nice feeling.
“I have had it too many times and I don’t want to go through that again. I believe it is just a sticky patch. Our time will come and we will go on a good run and pick up important points.”
