60 new jobs in store revamp

Sainsbury’sAround 60 new jobs will be created when a Walsall supermarket expands.

Sainsbury’s in Reedswood Way, Reedswood, is to undergo a refurbishment that will include a 21,698sqft extension and a new mezzanine-level customer café.

It will also boast an improved car park, while the petrol station will be relocated for easier access and an on-line shopping service will become available.

Shoppers are being asked to have their say over the plans.

An on-line exhibition has been launched as part of the consultation.

Christian Wakelin, Sainsbury’s regional development executive, said it was hoped they could fill a majority of the full and part-time positions with members of the community.

A website has now been launched as part of the next stage of a wider consultation, where people can view the plans and put across their views.

Information gathered through the website will be added to existing feedback and taken into consideration, prior to the plans being submitted to Walsall Council.

The on-line exhibition features all the information regarding the proposed store extension, including a site plan and contact information.
