Wolves boss gets helping hand

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has received a helping hand in his battle to get mobile again – a golf buggy!

McCarthy is on crutches for six weeks after having an operation to remove foreign bodies from his ankle last week.

The Molineux chief, a keen golfer himself, was struggling to get around the training pitches at Compton.

But officials from nearby South Stafforshire Golf Club in Tettenhall – where Wolves director John Gough is men’s captain – quickly stepped in to help out with the transport.

“I’m delighted with the golf club’s gesture – it’s very generous of them and I’m getting around the training ground a lot quicker than I would otherwise be!” said McCarthy.

McCarthy used his ‘new wheels’ to good effect yesterday as he watched the reserves’ friendly against Coventry from the comfort of the buggy – and it looks like he will be keeping it too after his side won 2-1.
