Two goals in nine first-half minutes put pay to any Albion hopes of an Anfield upset as Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners in the end.
Robbie Keane’s quickfire double put the home side firmly in command, before Alvaro Arbeloa added a third in injury time.
Keane was first on hand in the 33rd minute, converting Steven Gerrard’s cross.
He then applied a similarly clinical finish in the 42nd minute, to meet Fabio Aurelio’s ball on the edge of the penalty area.
Albion nearly managed to keep the second-half goalless, even with Fernando Torres replacing Keane.
They also saw Filipe Teixeira and Kim get some game time under their belts after injury.
The Baggies then took their foot off the gas three minutes into stoppage time and ended up conceding again.
Dirk Kuyt played in Arbeloa and he beat goalkeeper Scott Carson for the third.

I suppose the scoreline was to be expected. We very rarely threatened to score.
I thought Donk in particular looked very lethargic in defense. He tends to lose concentration too easily when defending.
Brunt was an inspired substitution and he put in some lovely crosses.
Now we have Chelsea to look forward to!!!

if im honest i thought we played ok and didnt deserve to lose by 3 but im worried about our defence who are letting in too many goals for my liking.
the one positive is we have now got the away games at utd arsenal and liverpool out the way and although we are in the bottom 3 i think we can still get out ouf it providing we can stop shipping in so many goals at the back.
good to see the likes of kim and tex back as these are the players who are going to create the chances for us to win games.
get the chelsea game out the way next week then look to push on and pick up some points against the teams around us.
keep the faith baggies fans lets not forget we are playing against some of europes finest teams and not the likes of plymouth and blackpool.

With just under a third of the season gone it’s now plainly clear that either Koren or Jonno has to go, at this level we cant afford to give players like gerard time and space to play. I still think we will be ok, but we need Meite back and quick, we need a centre forward and a midfield general, im one of Jonno’s biggest fans, but he simply does not win the ball and break up play, because Koren offers us a bit more going forward, club captain or not Jonno has to go for me if were are to survive. A lot of you might dissagree but its hard to see what he offers us apart from square balls that more increasingly we lose posession from. We still have time and I still think Mowbray is the right man for the job but he has to sort it out come January 1st!

At least we played 4 4 2 this time, but made little difference. Greening still not as effective as last season. We ultimately need a ball winner in the team as too often the midfield was wide open for Gerrard to run into. Another loss on Saturday awaits, before we go and play stoke who will just play for THROW INS!!!!

Cant believe how naive our tatics are - I am a big mowbray fan, we play fantastic football and he has bought some really good technical players - however we lack a real leader. Our squad is very young and has to start growning up as does the manager. I am sick to death of Mowbrays comments on how to play football and his philosophies - sometimes Tony we need to win second balls and make tackles its part of the game! Instead of paying £5million for Valero and £3 million on Moore (who will neither score a goal this year) go and get a balling winning midfielder who will scrap it out! Sort it out Tony before its too late

We got murdered on Saturday, I, or no-one else who supports the Albion could say any different. However, I STILL think we are capable of staying up.
We’ve had to play Arsenal, Man U, and Liverpool away already and got what we expected out of those matches….nothing!!
When we play lower placed teams at home, we need to pick up points in order to stay up.

Liverpool fans were a great laugh in the pub before the game too, they were a real credit to their team!

Had a great day out at Anfield Sat, lots of chit chat with Liverpool fans who all agreed we played pretty well against them. Big difference is players who cost millions and millions of pounds though. Keane took is goals very well, glad you lot sold him for a pittance as well lol.
Keeping the faith losing to another one of the big four is no disgrace by any means.
Chelsea Saturday, yes probably another defeat then our season starts again. 3 point difference between bottom and 10th place after 12 games played is not too musch to pull back.

Couldn’t see any positives from Saturday’s match, however don’t blame Mowbray for trying to find some. Can’t understand what is happening with our midfield, when the play is in the opposition’s third of the pitch they are all well behind the ball, when it’s in our third they’re still behind the ball.
Time to roll-up the sleeves, get stuck in and stop playing as if we’re on a five-a-side pitch.

The important encounters are just around the corner - i.e Stoke and Wigna away.
Just as Wenger has recently predicted the title will be won by the results of teams at the top playing each other, then surely the same logic will apply to the bottom ?
If you can learn to dig in and win dirty aginst the Stokes and Wigans then I think you’ll be safe.

Message to Tony Nobrain - We need a defence, and quickly, and definitely a decent goalie. The goal difference is dreadful - worst in the division, so its obvious why we’re bottom. We could do with a couple of forwards too, and maybe a commanding midfielder. Other than that the side’s okay.
