Anxious wait on duo for Wolves

burn-kightly-ward.jpegWolves face an anxious wait over Michael Kightly and Carl Ikeme for tonight’s clash with Swansea – preventing Matt Murray from going out on loan.

Winger Kightly has a slight calf problem but should be fit, while Ikeme has a sore back.

Ikeme’s injury concern means Murray has been held back from going out on loan to Milton Keynes Dons, where No 1 Willy Gueret is banned for three games. They have since signed Derby’s Lewis Price.

Boss Mick McCarthy said: “Matt was going to go to MK Dons but we had to call it off. Carl may well be fit, it would have been great for Matt, and the situation may change, but I can’t afford to leave ourselves open to that.

“He had just started getting all keyed-up to play again but we pulled the rug from under his feet.”

Should Kightly be out, McCarthy can call on Carlos Edwards, who wasn’t included in the 16 at Watford on Saturday.

McCarthy has a decision to make in the centre of defence, where Chelsea loan player Michael Mancienne is available to make his debut.

Wolves also have Richard Stearman back after suspension, while Jody Craddock and Matt Hill are also back in full training.

They are unlikely to be risked without playing, after long spells out with a broken foot and medial knee ligament damage respectively.

If Ikeme didn’t keep making silly errors he wouldn’t have a bad back from bending to pick the ball out of the net :-).Put Murray in for heavens sake! Seriously hope Kites is fit to face the Swans though.

Any doubts don’t risk Kightly. Play Edwards, he can’t be that bad twice.
Hennessey or Murray take your pick but get behind them.
Swan’s are a form team at the moment and hold a recent win over us so should not be regarded as a push over.
Even so I confidently expect 6 points from the next two games.
    Up The Wolves
    P.S.
Dont worry just have a look at how close the Baggies are to the drop zone.

why do we never ever hear that collins is injured? Murray going on loan is a jody to stoke McCarthy cock up version 2. Wolf (1) exactly right mate if his good enough for someone else why isnt he playing for us? God help us if kites is injured. My gut feeling tonight is draw. Muppet Mick if you do read this please please please dont pick collins or ward tonight, please.

Has Hennessey not had enough rest yet? Last season he showed no ill effects from playing every week. If Ikeme isn’t fit, its a no-brainer… Hennessey is back in and Murray on the bench. Job done.

I think Kightly’s injury is mind games with Swansea. I bet Mick knows he’s fit to play but by saying he’s doubtful it affects Swansea’s preparation for the game. Plus what a boost it gives to everyone when the start player is suddenly fit to start.

Really need to get behind the lads tonight!

If Ikeme plays tonight and he has another dodgy game his confidence will drop off the scale and will take ages to get back. He has had a taste but time now to put wayne back in.

It’s unlikely that we’ll ever get to really know what is going on behind the scenes at Molineux, whoever is in charge and whatever we think of them.

Mick must have reasons for leaving Wayne out and we have to trust him. Most of these young men have already earned more than I will in my lifetime - it must be a hell of a job keeping them in line.

No way would Mancienne have come to Wolves if he didn’t believe in the setup and no way would Chelsea loan him out to a setup they didn’t value.

So let’s be positive. We’re second in the league, four points clear of third! Let’s enjoy it. Not every game will be pretty, we’ll need luck and we need to win some we probably won’t deserve to (like last Saturday) but every team that wins things needs that.

    Another 3 points tonight please!

    Best Wishes
    David

    The team should be:
    Hennessey
    Foley
    Shackell
    Sterman
    Ward
    Kightly
    Henry
    Jones
    Edwards
    Blake
    Iwelumo

    Subs:
    Murray
    Mancienne
    Edwards
    Keogh
    Vokes

Do not want to start slagging Collins off because i feel he started the season well, i just think it needs to be changed and i feel Shackell and Sterman will be better.

Also i would only change the keeper if Ikeme is not fit. Wolves fans make me laugh what has this guy done wrong, do we all really think Wayne would have saved those goals scored against us. The only one he was at fault for was his own goal against Watford but didnt Hennessey do the same against Reading when to put it frank he was awful.

Ikeme is as good at shot stopping as Hennessey and commands his area far better. Im not getting at Wayne, i do think he is a good keeper, Lets just give Ikeme a chance he has done nothing wrong!!!

    Rant over. Up the Wolves!!!

It’s not about Matt proving his fitness so much as his ability to concentrate for 90 min again. The reports from the reserves have left me unconvinced.

I’d rather he make a few mental errors in his comeback for someone else’s first team rather than ours. When he’s top notch again, he goes in.

I do feel the defence is happier with Hennessey, so I hope he’s back in tonight.

    Come on you Wolves!

If Ikeme has a back problem I strongly advise the club to send him to the Chiropractic Clinic at 84 Tettenhall Road for treatment.

I had a long standing problem with my back, then went there on recommendation and they sorted it out. No pain now, full freedom and no relapse.
Send him to the people who know what they are doing.

Why is it that anbody from Wolves that gets picked for Wales and does well — gets dropped or is shipped out — not just the Hen and Freddie — remeber a good defender called Rob Edwards?

    Sunderland / Ireland OK / Wales a No-No.

But it has to be teh Hen and Matt on the bench.

Ikemi has now beeen blooded in and will make a good standby should Matt not retain fittness. Bit the Hen has to be No 1 for now.
