Albion were blown away in 18 second half minutes as surprise package Hull climbed to joint top of the Premier League at the Hawthorns.

Three quick fire goals from the high-flying Tigers stunned Albion and silenced a sold-out Hawthorns, as Phil Brown’s side claimed another victory in the battle of the newly promoted clubs.
The result meant Albion had conceded seven goals without reply in their last two outings, having been hammered in the second half at Manchester United a week ago.
But the victory was a defiant message from Championship play-off winners Hull, whose dream start to their first ever top flight season shows no signs of ending just yet.
There was little indication that an emphatic victory was on the way, as Tony Mowbray’s Baggies edged a tight and goalless first half.
In fact it was the home side who went closest to breaking the deadlock, with two near misses before the break.
Things began to go wrong for the Baggies just three minutes into the second half, when Scott Carson made a brilliant save from Geovanni, only for Hull to take the lead from the resulting corner.
Central defender Kamil Zayatte got ahead of Paul Robinson to turn home Dean Marney’s flag kick.
It was 2-0 in the 62nd minute, when Marlon King sprung the Albion offside trap and squared for Geovanni to beat Carson with a diving header.
King pounced on an error by Gianni Zuiverloon to grab a goal of his own in the 66th minute, ending any doubt over the result.

We were mugged. Still it shows that we need an experienced centre forward in january. Miller, Bednar and Moore just don’t have the experience. How many would Phillips have put away today?

Keep your chin up Baggies, by all accounts a proper footballing display this afternoon. Despite leaking a few at the back it was nice to hear on Sky that you kept to your principles of playing classy football!

Come on the the Baggies, at least you have got some decent support.You had over 26000 crowd.
Only 17600, on a Saturday, at the Birmingham game, against a well followed Sheff Wed. Wolves and Baggies had a go at each other about Wolves getting a 22000 crowd at a midweek game.
Chins up Baggies and hopefully, the best two supported clubs in the area can play each other in the Premiership, next season.

I know we lost the match 3-0,but Iam actually
still proud to be an albion fan.
Some of the football we played was out of this
world,with Borja Valero getting better with each
game,JUST HOW GOOD IS THIS BLOKE GOING TO BE?.
We have a hard away match against newcastle
coming up,so Tony Mowbray must stick with the
same side,although Greening should come into
the centre, with Morrison moving to wide left.
This is the best the Albion have played all
season,if Millers finishing was just a tad
better we would of walked that game.
Infact I`d even consider giving Luke Moore
a chance,but we must keep with 4-4-2.

Questions need answering about Set Pieces. 1)Who gives instructions to defend corners by bringing every player back in the ‘box’? 2)Who believes that taking a short corner and risking being over-run, when it inevitably breaks down from a poor delivery, is a good tactic? 3) Who thinks that direct free kicks, from scorable positions, should be left to Miller, Robinson or a substitute who has just come off the bench and has still to put a foot on the ball? Answers please.

I’m still confused how we managed to lose that 3 - 0!!
Saying that, Hull were very, very good after they went 3 up…….and the Hull fans managed to bring a smile to my face with the campest song ever, with their ‘You’re getting mauled by the Tigers’ song which involved a fantastic mauling / clawing action!!
It was as camp as a row of pink tents!!

Don’t make me laugh! You really think Beattie can cut it? And Moore?! Laziest forward we’ve had in years! I know Miller gets stick for being lazy but compared to Moore he’s a proper work horse!

All valid questions, and the same ones I was aking myself at full time - especially the short corner one! I swear if Greening had run over to collect a short ball one more time I’d have been praying for a sniper in the crowd to scare him off!
Still think we have to get a quality striker in January but I think the main thing we lack is any pace in midfield. An out and out winger who has pace to burn would be a great outlet to relieve the pressure on the defence and would inevitably create more clear cut chances. Let’s hope Mowbray can go out and get us a few gems.

I think it is time for Moore to have a run in the team. Miller has had a go and scored none so it has to be worth a punt. I agree we do play too open at times and all of the back four were poor. Robinson was the closest to Zayatte for the firts goal but still tried to blame someone else. Sorry Robbo it was your man. Donk and Zuiverloon were equally responsible for the 2nd and 3rd goals. I think playing Johnno wide and Morrison in the middle was also a mistake. Waht I really did not get was why we did not go at McShane, Johnno got in behind him in the 2nd minute but we never really troubled him after that, and we all know how quick he is (not). We got beaten up by a very ordinary team and unless we start scoring when we are on top I am starting to fear for us.

We Were never going to set the Prem alight and were going to struggle against teams we thought we should beat,but its early days yet Mowbray needs time to see what his strikers can or cant do.
I personally believe that come Xmas we will be in a position of stability with the goals starting to go in,at present the bar the post are getting in the way,but keep the faith all will change. Bring on the Geordies, Boing Boing

I said on friday that a failure to score would heap pressure on us - and so it proved. We could have gone in front on at least 2 occassions, but we allowed Hull to come out and attack us.
We are still playing the football, but we aint scareing teams - they know that we will play a great game and enjoy possession, but ultimately we aint hurting teams.
We all know we need a goal scorer and I just hope that when he arrives we are in a decent position to push on.

Funny old thing eh Wolves lose and all the steptoes come crawling out of the woodwork in droves to rub it in, but when they get thrashed at home by the mighty….Hull they’re no-where to be seen or heard from (it is benefit day though). So steptoes your excuse last week was that you lost 3-0 to the current champions of England and Europe, so what excuse are you coming out with this week or are you just going to be honest and admit that you ain’t good enough and that you are going down to where you belong. When is Tomo going to stop making all these silly cliche,d comments?we played well,take the goals away and there was nothing between the two sides he says.I thought scoring goals was what it was all about?.Without them you don,t win games.No more excuses,just say when we lose ,we lost.We need strikers,yes but he spent millions on defenders in the summer and we are still shipping them like there,s no tomorrow,without reply.The answer to this equasion is disaster and relegation.

I just looked up last seasons Championship table - Reading and Birmingham both had more points at this stage-both had better forwrd lines than ours comparatively,and Blues to be honest did’nt lose by more than a single goal against any of the so-called top 4 last season and drew games against 3 of them.The fact remains we are NOT good enough.The defence is NOT a unit and has no leader,the midfield lacks an authorative tackler and leader to break up play and then mould it,we have signed continental fancy dan players adept at passing the ball sideways in nice patterns but not adept at adapting to different styles of play.Up front we have no real options,no real Premiership experience and I agree the sale of Phillips was a crime-he is scoring for fun again this season despite far less game time than he had with us,he is being cleverly used there playing off 2 big strikers with power and pace,why could’nt we have utilised him that way THIS seaon,come to think of it why did’nt we get lee Crasley,a leader and a warrior who has 12/24 good months left in him just the type of no nonsense leader we lack.Pretty football will see us RELEGATED AGAIN! with nothing more than a few nice comments to go back down with-worst still seeing the Dingles and Bluenoses pass up on the way up…

Concerned Baggie you are right,TOMO keeps making these rather cliche,d excuses i.e we played well,take the goals away and there wasn,t anything between the teams,BLAH!BLAH!BLAH.I thought goals was what the game was all about.Pretty midfield like you say isn,t going to win us anything.Teams are now playing us and knowing we cannot score enough, or any goals,so they just sit back and then bang in a couple of goals,job done.Millions spent on defenders,nothing on strikers.K.P shoved off to Blues and was never replaced.I,me darn,d sure he would have scored from some of the chances we have created.

So. They’re coming out of the woodwork. Don’t blame the genuine Wolves fans having a go, it’s what it’s all about, some even being constructive which is great. Ignoring the one or two planks pretending to be Baggies, we all know what we think of them. It’s the so called Albion supporters who seem to rub their hands in glee at the first sign of a reversal. Let’s have a go at the Chairman or Luke Moore because he didn’t get a hat trick in his nine minutes on the pitch or however long it was. We’re even starting to get veiled attacks on the manager. I can only presume these are the same people, if they actually attend games that is, who groan if Miller’s first touch is poor, boo when we go behind or go home as soon as we go two behind. Please go to Molineaux, you’ll feel more at home in the negative atmosphere and the Albion will be better off without you.
