Mowbray is a marked man

west-ham-3.jpegAlbion chairman Jeremy Peace admits his trail-blazing manager Tony Mowbray has become a marked man with envious Premier League clubs.

Peace makes it clear he is determined to do everything in his power to enable Mowbray to fulfil his ambitions at the Hawthorns, as the two men spearhead one of the most exciting chapters in Albion’s recent history.

Fresh from winning the Championship title and reaching the FA Cup semi-final last season, Mowbray has guided the Baggies to the best of their four starts at Premier League level.

Albion’s growing reputation has been strengthened by the cluster of unheralded signings, led by the already-coveted right back Gianni Zuiverloon, who have taken to top flight football effortlessly and underlined the value of the club’s revamped recruiting system.

Mowbray’s team will get its sternest test since opening day when they resume Premier League football with a trip to tackle Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Peace acknowledges that the transformation his manager has led will not have gone unnoticed.

He said: “I think Tony’s name is bound to be on a lot of lists at the moment. Maybe those people are monitoring him to see how he goes through his first season as a Premier League manager.

“He is only proving everything we said about him when we brought him here. He is showing that he is a thoroughly decent man and a very good manager.

“I’m sure people are looking at him, so it’s up to us to try to provide him with the platform to achieve everything he wants to here.

“We know that he is committed to producing a stream of talented players, that he is manager who wants to develop talented players and by doing so, give this club something more to believe in than just survival.

“He is a big part of putting that belief into the club which I think the supporters have bought into.”

7 - Terry you handsome piece of manliness you, I have no doubt that either of the Italians, one of which looks rather Italian, and the other looks as Italian as Ryan Donk does, will be stealing any of your lovelies!!

I’ll look for Mr Albion with no hair, holding a pint of Smiths and swearing at the passers by then Sir!!

Quadrant here we come….Onwards and upwards my fellow Baggie Boys and Girls!!

I think TM actually ENJOYS building his teams n the QT - he likes to get his unknown diamonds in and get them playing his way….

I don’t think he could do that at a “top” club where the demand for instant success and big name signings would put the pressure on him to abandon his ideals.

Obviously he will move on one day - but I don’t think he is looking at jobs like Newcastle and thinking “if only”…

As many have found out - the grass away from the Albion aint always greener.

Terry how are you my friend !! PC police have somewhat curtailed my postings !! I would have thought you’d have your Baggies undies on as well (or is tha baggy undies ? - whatever !!)
Let me say again that I hope you , Happy, Bomber, and all you other Baggies make a Wulf well and truly happy at the weekend and put one over on Man Ure !! Believe me I will be celebrating as hard as you lot on Saturday night if you do !! But, whatever happens have a great day.

On a more serious note - back to the Blog. I hate to say it but as soon as one of the ‘bigger’ clubs (and I say that with no barbed meaning !!) sacks their manager, your man is gonna be top of the hit list. As much as that is a compliment to TM and the team, that would be the worst thing that could happen to you guys and I sincerely hope it doesn’t.

PS Hilltop… if the mankini thing is true mind the frost !!

would be good if a simular situation could develop here with TM as did at Crewe with Dario Gradi, would be happy for him to stay several years, putting together several good squads over time and continually unearthing diamonds….hmm…dream on ay!

i’ve met a few ov TMs mates over here, and they all say “the only way he will leave WBA, is if we sack him” he’s the most loyal man on the planet! hense Boro”s song “fly me to the moon” my own thought is, england manager!but to get that,we will be back where we belong!! esstablished, breaking transfer records etc etc…

I had to wait 4 1/2 months for my local library to get a copy of his autobiography from Scotland but was worth the wait to understand the man and his background. I think he likes his teams being the underdogs. When he feels he has reached the end of the road with Albion, he will leave, but at the moment he seems really happy with the set up and support of Mr Peace.
