Kightly ready to switch wings

plymouth-equaliser.jpegMichael Kightly is prepared for a change of position as he gears up for his Wolves comeback against Coventry on Saturday.

The exciting winger confirmed his fitness by coming through training unscathed over the last week and admits he is prepared to switch wings, to accommodate on-loan Sunderland wide man Carlos Edwards.

Edwards was brought in following hamstring injuries to Kightly and Matt Jarvis. Kightly missed the defeat at Swansea after coming off against Reading, but is raring to go again.

Kightly said: “I’ve played on the left many times before and did so for quite a while last season before I got injured. If I’m in there again that’s no problem.

“I think we can both play there and if there is chopping and changing during a game, that’s fine. ‘Jarvo’ had started the season as well as anyone so to be without him is a massive blow.

“I feel for him but we’ve got a squad to try to cope with injuries and the gaffer has brought in a good player in Carlos Edwards.”

Kightly is so keen to get involved he believes he could play this midweek.

He said: “The recovery’s gone well and it’s feeling really good. If we’d had a midweek game this week I think I’d have been available.

“I just tweaked the hamstring and coming off when I did has probably done me the world of good. There was even a slight chance I might have been ready for the Swansea game.”

    pleeeeeease dont rush him back

there are months left of the season I would rather him miss a few games now than most of the rest of the season if his comeback goes wrong

    1. Are you an idiot? If he’s saying he’s fit to play whats the point in not playing him? Yes theres lots of games to go, but we don’t want to start falling behind now. He should play and we should try to continue with our good start!

    Up the Wolves!

4 nob - The article is about Kites, not collins. Get a life muppet.

Saturday will be a good test of character for our lads to bounce back after the recent 2 defeats.

Im going for 3-1 (Big Chris (1) Blake (2))

    4. What an attitude. Bet you’re a bundle of fun. Do you go to matches and actually see what’s going on on the pitch or do you just mouth off negative comments on here?

nice to see you’ve come back so quick kites roll on sat!!!

    4. collins is doin well at the moment but he IS in the team so get behind him and the lads or find someone else to support

It doesn’t matter who the article is about, we could have Pele in the team and we’d still lose because of Collins he is useless. Anyone convincing themselves otherwise is deluded.

Get rid of Ward and get a proper left back in whilst you’re at it Jez.

8 Lets look at the facts - Collins has been in the team on merit ( I know MM has his favourites) but the last two games , having shppied 6 goals now calls for a change. Jason Shackell has been professional about his approach and waiting foir his chance. Now the time has surely come? Freddy will need a good defender if we are to stop him getting amongst the goals!! Change on form not on a whim is what is called for!!

Different subject I know, but I’m a bit fed up with this paper harping on about the Units miss on saturday. I mean, its not as if they never make mistakes is it. I would go so far to say that you could partialy blame the general poor command of the written word throughout the region on the shocking spelling and grammer that they churn out

I wouldn’t blame them for the comment made by 4 though, I would say that is more a care in the community issue

  12. Bob Wolf said:

10 Agree with your comments, Collins was looking shaky before but it was put up with because we were winning.

Conceding 6 goals in 2 games warrants a change. Collins was poor against Reading and shocking at Swansea.

We have a £1m defender sitting on the bench, so get him in the team!!

    Shut up Bob your boring!!!

What would have to say if we were stuck in the bottom half of the table???

    10 - I think u’ll find Freddys injured pal.

8 - So if we lose a game its all down to Collins?? I think you find footballs a TEAM game. Oh, and wasn’t Hennessy at fauly for 2 of the Reading goals?? U obviously dont go to games.

Bob Wolf, I respect your opinion re Collins, and there are others who also agree although I would point out that this article is about Kightly and Carlos Edwards. I find your desire to turn every article, regardless of its subject, in to a Collins hate campaign as strange. Do you have some sort of secret crush on him ? Have you got pictures of him plastered all over your walls ? Just wondered ?!?!

number 8, i hazard a guess that you are not present in the stands at wolves matches because if you were then you would see collins has been playing well recently. You obviously listen to the minority of blinkered halfwits that slag off everything to do with wolves whilst having the nerve to call themselves wolves fans. I bet WHEN we get promotion this year, you will go rushing to get a ticket for premiership home matches, and when you dont get 1 you will stand there moaning that the “armchair” supporters have got them 1st before you because you go week in, week out…….NOT.! get behind the WHOLE team man, whats the matter with you?

  17. chris hoggard said:

Kightly is the best right winger in the league and Mick should play him there, and put Carlos Edwards on the left.Move them about during the game, but primarily Kightly should stick to the right where he has been most effective for us.

  18. Prawn Sandwich said:

    Psst, Newbridge.
I think you might have meant grammar?
Don’t worry, I don’t think anyone noticed, we’ll keep it to ourselves;-)

  19. David said:

Bob Wolf - have you actually watched what has been happening this season. Collins has been outstanding so far - his relationship with Stearman has been outstanding too. We are in a very strong position, having lost god knows how many first team regulars for a difficult away game.

Get behind the team and the players who are in the team. If you don’t like that, there are plenty of other Midlands Clubs within travelling distance. I’m sure they would appreciate your support!

    Best Wishes

Get him in the side for 70 minutes, then he can come off when we are 4-0 up and the game is won. Sure, there is a risk he could get injured again coming back to quickly, but if the player feels that he is ready, you cant leave someone of his class out of the side. Injuries are part of the game.

In regards to the Collins bashing - How can you leave out the best defender outside the Premiership right now?

psst Newbridge, look at your spelling of partially as well - two not one l.

bobwolf - we can do without idiots like you goin on abt the team! this is the season we’re goin up & u postin completely random useless comments arent helpin anyone.
collins is doin well at the moment - jus leave him be & try watchin the football.
i bet youre 1 of th idiots who sits by me in th south bank who spends the whole game bitchin n moanin abt th team & never notices wats goin on!!

i dont like that kightley would be the 1 to move rarther than edwards

and anyways its only a stain on his hamstring so its nothing that cant be healed fast it only needs a little rest but if you have a broken bone or ligament damage then you cant rush em back. he wil be fine

  24. pip said:

get him back in quick, the team needs him.Collins as done well pre season and took his chance well deserves his place, come on me babbies.

Bob Wolf “Being the big fan that you are” You might have noticed that Wolves did sign 2 defenders, Hill is on the mend and Shackell who is chomping at the bit, so not sure where you are coming from about Jez buying a left back. As for the Collins thing, ok, he isnt the best we got but at least he is trying to make amends to last seasons shocking form. He and Stears have been 1st class. So not sure if Collins dig is relevant. Also I would be more concerned with your constanting digs at Collins. Do you secretly fancy him? Or are just stupid!

  26. Bob Wolf said:

I’m away for a day and what happens - the whole of the Wolves fan base goes insane!! You are all clearly getting Collins mixed up with someone else?

‘How can you leave out the best defender outside the Premiership right now?’
‘collins is doin well at the moment’
‘Collins has been in the team on merit’

What games have you guys been watching? Collins is shaky, gives no confidence to his other defenders and has the pace of a snail. Yes he can win the ball in the air against someone smaller than him but so can most people!! Wake up people we are going nowhere with him in the team.

  27. wolfie wolf the wolf said:

Collins needs to be replaced i’m afraid… Stearman is the reason why he’s playing to a reasonable level… Sorry, but he is sh*t…

With Big Chris back, we’ll get back on track…

  28. Scott North said:

I was one of the collins haters, but fair play he is playing well and deserves to be in the team. How can people who never go down molinuex make a comment? you need to watch a few games to make an opinion on a player! Beacon radio dont count!
