Pledge as Albion in profit joy

jeremy-peace.jpgWest Bromwich Albion made more than £11 million profit in the last financial year, with chairman Jeremy Peace now promising more cash for players in January.

Baggies shareholders will be told in a letter on Monday that the club’s turnover rose from under £24m to more than £27m in the latest financial year, thanks to increased Premier League ‘parachute’ payments.

Mr Peace today warned fans that the £11.3m profits from the year ending June 2008 have already been spent on players and stadium and training ground upgrades. However, he said the Baggies’ healthy financial state means money will be available to manager Tony Mowbray in January.

“We had a very successful season,” he said. “It was a coming together of lots of good things.”

im not sure if anyone will agree with me but i hope jez doesnt sell to a foriegn buyer he seems to be doing well as he is the club is a happy place with out some over rich tycoon coming in and spoiling all that jez and TM have brought to the club im not saying it wouldnt be nice to have a mega rich bank to dip into but i just feel it would ruin a good thing

I remember Ron Atkinson once said of Doug Ellis “He will spend enough money to make Aston Villa a good team, but not enough to make them a great team” I think it will be interesting to see if Peace is willing to go that extra couple of yards.
Surely Baggies fans aren’t so naieve that they believe everything the chairman says? profit margins will always come first and foremost and the more profit that comes, the greedier they get, Peace is already trying to manipulate shareholders to gain a bigger foothold, do you honestly think he is going to risk all that by spending countless fortunes on players that will make Albion a top 4 club….dream on lads.

we dont need too spend fortunes with the gems TM picks up for next too nothing, aye boing boing donk

Considering that teams like West Ham are up a certain creek financially, plus we haven’t had a tycoon come in to cover any debts or bankroll us without any need to worry, it makes it even better to be a Baggie!!
Add to that, the fact that prices were actually cut to watch Premier League football after winning the Championship…….I am not going to bemoan Mr Peace in the near future!

    Good job, well done!!

12 - We’re not stupid enough to think that we’re going to break into the top 4….yet!! ha ha!

However, we’re currently financially stable and getting better on the pitch too. It’s a good time to be a Baggie!!

With the 60m to come at the end of the season we will have money to spend on new players in the summer so J-P does not have to break the bank
