With parking like this, the vandals who stole this four-ton dumper truck would have probably failed their driving test. It was stolen from Great Bridge market in Tipton, driven along the towpath and through a canal lock, before being wedged into the canal. To make matters worse, it was set alight shortly afterwards.
During their rampage, the joyriders smashed over a wall and broke two lock gates along the stretch of the historic Walsall Canal, off Olympus Drive. Workers last Monday were attempting to lever the dumper truck out with a JCB, as that was the “only thing that [would] get down the towpath,” said Chris Scott from Stave-Con.
