Thieves smash through roof

wd3090956ceilingtheft-2-pm.jpgThieves smashed through the ceiling of a Black Country charity shop to get to the lower floor and steal money from a safe.

Just £75 was taken from the Marie Curie Cancer Care shop, in High Street, Stourbridge, in the raid.

But bosses now face having to fork out hundreds of pounds to have the damage repaired.

The raiders struck in the early hours of Friday, but staff were still counting the costs of the attack today.

It is believed the thieves managed to get into the upper floors of the charity shop after breaking thorugh a fire door on the neighbouring building. They then smashed holes through the ceiling to reach the lower floor and smash open the safe.

Staff today said they had been left heartbroken by the theft and the damage which had been caused to the shop.

Manager Debbie Fairley said: “I locked up at around 5.20pm on Thursday and when my colleague opened up again at 9am on Friday the damage was discovered.”

Mrs Fairley added it was very sad to think someone would steal from a charity. “It is heartbreaking because people volunteer their time to bring in cash for a good cause,” she said. Police are investigating.

    Scumbags !!

How can they live with themselves knowing the charity is there to raise funds for cancer care. Most of us have personal experience of loosing loved ones and friends from this terrible disease and I bet these scumbags do as well.
I really hope the police are able to make arrests and the courts punish them hard. Part of their punishment should entail working as a volunteer in a cancer centre / hospital so they can see the suffering patients have to endure.

These stories appear so frequently these days and reading them makes me feel so sad.

If ever there was a case for Sharia Law, this is it and after they have had their hands removed they wont be able to climb down from charity shop ceilings.

One thing it did do was make me aware of this charity, and I took 2 bags clothes to them today, some of them brand new, never been worn, and I will continue to support them in the future to help them get over this problem.

Pity they didn’t fall and break their necks, or be made to get a job/education/life - whichever’s more painful for them. Scum.
