Wolverhampton-based Marston’s, the brewer of the official beer of the England cricket team, has teamed up with local cricketer Vikram Solanki to make a celebratory beer to mark the city’s India Summer cultural initiative.The city brewer has also joined forces with the Express & Star to create an incredible competition prize for one lucky cricket fan plus friend to watch India v England in December 2008.
The winning entrant and partner get to enjoy six-nights accommodation at the ITC Grand Central Mumbai, test match tickets at the Brabourne Stadium, return transfers from airport, hotel and match days and £250 spending money and five lucky runners-up will each receive a case of Vikram’s IPA beer.
Flights are with Jet Airways and departs out of Heathrow Airport on December 16 and returning back on December 24, 2008.
Marston’s Free Trade Sales Director, Philip Barnett who is also a Wolverhampton Business Champion said: ”Wolverhampton is home to many cultures and faiths - it’s part of what helps to make it a vibrant, thriving, progressive and richly diverse city.
“We wanted to do something to acknowledge the contribution that this diversity has made towards the prosperity of our city. Using our own close cricket links we have been able to work closely with Vikram to provide not only a great beer but also the chance for two cricket fans to win the trip of a lifetime.”
Worcestershire CCC captain Vikram although born overseas grew up in Wolverhampton and the India Pale Ale beer he has chosen has been exclusively available at special Wolverhampton India Summer events organised in conjunction with Wolverhampton City Council.
