John Carew believes the nation is finally beginning to sit up and take notice of Martin O’Neill’s Villa Park revolution.
The Norway striker, who starred in Sunday’s 2-1 derby success over Albion, reckons fourth-placed Villa are now gaining far more exposure than when he first arrived in the Second City in January 2007.
He attributes the additional attention to the exciting brand of football they play under O’Neill, which has seen them begin the season in the same swashbuckling style which saw them end the previous campaign the Premier League’s third top scorers.
Carew’s theory is backed up by the fact all three of Villa’s games last week were televised. The former Valencia and Roma man insists few Premier League teams now attract more publicity.
He said: “We are on a great, great wave now. It’s been a hard week with the travelling but we will have a good rest.
“This will give us an extra confidence boost and we are looking forward to the home games now (against QPR, Sunderland and Litex Lovech).”
