Radio sell-off plans

Global Radio, Britain’s biggest commercial radio operator, will this week start the sale of stations in the West Midlands.

They include BRMB and Heart, which it may continue to run as a franchise.

Global offered to sell the stations after it bought GCap Media, the owner of Beacon Radio and Classic FM.

It must offload stations to avoid getting into trouble with the Competition Commission, the organisation which ensures that companies do not gain an unfair advantage by creating a monopoly.
