Silver Surfer destroyed in Dudley
A replica of the Silver Surfer superhero which has become a landmark in the Black Country has been demolished by vandals.
Yobs have sent the 15ft statue crashing to the ground and with it the dreams of its creator Nick Clark.
He made the statue which was modelled on the Marvel Comics character created by Jack Kirby.
The Silver Surfer stood in the front garden of Mr Clark’s home in Buffery Road, Dudley.
It has caught the attention of many a passing motorist and become something of a landmark.
But now the superhuman surfer is lying in a twisted heap on the ground after vandals knocked him over.
All of his joints have come loose, his arm has been snapped and he has been completely separated from his board.
Mr Clark described the vandalism as “a crime against art.”
He added: “I don’t have the time, energy or money to resurrect the Silver Surfer.”
The statue was originally intended to go on top of a studio in Birmingham opposite the Custard Factory.
The vandal attack has been reported to the police and Mr Clark added he will need a crane to get the statue moved.

Though i do not in any way support vandalism of and sort,this piece or “art ” was an eyesore and good riddance to it

I cant believe the idiotic comment from M Harris. The statue was not an eyesore and my son loved to see it. I would suggest that M Harris gets a life instead of making stupid comments like that.
I hope the pathetic yobs are caught and taught a lesson.

I will miss the Silver Server. I drove past it four times a week, on my way to collect and drop off my son, and it always cheered me up. This is a disgrace. I think it should be repaired.
