Gianni eyes an orange future

wd2901297albion-8-dh-3.jpgNew Albion star Gianni Zuiverloon believes rave reviews in the Premier League could propel him onto the international stage with Holland.

The defender will win his 18th under-21s cap tonight as the Dutch look to qualify for next summer’s UEFA Championships. But the 21-year-old already has half an eye on the right-back berth in the full squad currently occupied by former Chelsea man Khalid Boulahrouz.

“I think moving to Albion will help me,” said Zuiverloon. “If I play well at this level then the coach will see that I can play well in what is probably the biggest competition in the world.

“If he sees that I can play well in England then yes, why not?

“They have Boulahrouz at the moment but if I do well and get selected for the squad then who knows?

“I have confidence in my ability.”

Zuiverloon and his under-21s team mates face Norway in the Dutch town of Kerkrade tonight before travelling to Schaffhausen to play Switzerland on Tuesday.

And Zuiverloon will then return to England hoping to continue his positive early form in Albion colours.

He has been involved in a defeat and a draw in his two appearances so far but he believes the Baggies have performed better than the table suggests.

“We’ve been unlucky,” he said. “We’ve been playing well and if we keep dominating matches like this then we will do OK and have a chance of staying up.

“We’ve bought some good players and the team has improved. It can only get better and better.

“We play good football and if we start scoring then we will stay in this league easily.

“If we can keep up our work then it shouldn’t a be a problem for us as long as we score goals. We need to keep going and I’m confident the goals will come.”

And Zuiverloon says he has learned already from the experience at Bolton, when he was forced to operate at centre-back for the second 45 minutes.

He said: They played a lot of long balls which is different to what I’m used to.

“I played at centre-half when I was a youth at Feyenoord. I don’t mind playing there.”

TM is starting something here, wenger has done it for years in france, real madrid and barca also went to holland, as did the italian giants. all picked up the young up and coming crop of talent. this is why our national team is suffering, because of greedy clubs (from any division) putting ridiculous price tags on young english players. beckford, maynard and maybe scotland should all be given a chance at the higher level, but if you can buy a highly developed young talent like “loon” for the same money, what would you do? i’ve read cruyff’s comments on our gianni, so he’ll be in the senior squad very soon. he will not play for holland whilst he is in an albion shirt. ask scott carson about his international future, if they do well they will just look for a transfer, gera and phillips syndrome, not like our youngsters playing for the badge. England under 21s tonight, 3 proud wolves will step out at wembley!

For any player to catch the eye of international managers, the club he plays for must be doing well also, though I am sure the Baggies will eventually come good and live up to their potential, sadly at the moment they are not.
Playing at under 21 level is very exciting for young guns like Gianni, but you are only in the focus of the people who matter for the odd game now and again, he has to perform at first team level week in and week out, maybe then he will catch the eye of his International team manager.

You cannot take this villavilla character seriously.
If he is a villa fan, then you cannot take any of them seriously…..they are without question THE most obnoxious fans anywhere and their pious self importance is excruciatingly laughable.
Whenever i hear the words “i`m a villa fan”
i switch off imediately, they are a joke.

villa villa, could of course be a dingle with a chip on his shoulder, in disguise.

no19. do you have to put villa villa on paper so you can remember the words to your only song at the “franchise stadium”. this my clubs bigger, better than your club is nonsensical and puerile. be honest you’d never heard of gianni zuiverloon and ryan donk before they come to the hawthorns had you. thought not, but guess what?… van gaal, cruyff, rijkaard and van basten have all recently said that these boys are highly talented with a great future. now then, i take great care in learning about a subject before i spout about it. be advised my friend and grow up a bit. 25. once again you delude yourself. top clubs sign the likes of berbatov, torres, deco and van persie, not milner or dare i say it davies. there is a pecking order in the premier league, the top table who buy the superstars in their prime. the midriff who mainly buy once top players and over inflated ego’s and the newly promoted clubs tend to buy has beens and depend on what they’ve got. because our manager has gone out and attracted very promising players who play to a certain style i.e. on the floor you find it galling and resort to petty knit picking. a few years before you were born (prob) crystal palace were top of the then (prem) 1st division after 3 games, the press loved them, flashy manager (malcolm allison) and from london. the team of the decade they were called. then they got beat in nearly all their remaining 39 games. i’m not saying we’ll win the prem, but i am saying you won’t either. now be a good lad and keep looking at the table. I presume you’re John fron Aston and not the poor man’s George Best. Can’t quite see your point. We’ve played three games, against last years 3rd and 5th, and a team notoriously difficult to beat at home. GZ has played two of these, one while still slightly jet-lagged and half of the other out of position. In both he has looked superb. While your efforts are appreciated, I think you really have more to worry about in your own back yard.
