The ribbon was finally cut on the brand-new, £1.75million, ten-mile footpath and cycleway linking three Staffordshire towns together across Cannock Chase.
Walkers and cyclists will be able to go along the Chase Heritage Trail soaking up the picturesque landscape while learning about the history and attractions within the Chase, through information panels along the way, as it winds through Cannock, Hednesford and Rugeley.
Cannock Chase Council Leader Councillor Neil Stanley said the trail was unique.
He said: “Where else has such diversity in just 10 miles? Where else packs in so much fascination and fun? Cannock Chase district has got it all and the trail will link it all together.
“It will also be a major asset to the local community and help them get out and about. I am delighted that the dream has become a reality.”

this article is misleading. one week after the officail opening of this trail, many miles of this trail remain closed or unfinished. i have photographic evidence which is been published this week by local newspapers and i would by happy to share the photos / real story with the express and star. could it be that having recieved around 1.5 million of the 1.9 million boasted by ccdc from heritage lottery funding, that they had a time commitment for this funding and have officially openend the trail simply to tick the boxes on their funding application.
