Albion sign Donk for season

Albion have confirmed the capture of Dutch defender Ryan Donk on a season-long loan deal from AZ Alkmaar.

The 6ft 3in stopper has been touted as ‘the new Jaap Stam’ by some in his homeland after bursting onto the scene as a young player at first club at RKC Waaljwik, before moving to AZ in 2006.

The 22-year-old joins with the view to a permanent move at the end of the campaign.
