Albion have completed the signing of Borja Valero for £4.75m on a four-year contract.
The Real Mallorca midfielder has penned a deal after a fee of six million euros was agreed between the clubs.
Valero’s agent Martan Paledes told Expressandstar.com: “He is very happy and is looking forward to playing in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion. We believe this is a great opportunity for him.”
But Albion’s chances of re-uniting his former Mallorca team-mate Oscar Trejo with Valero are still hanging in the balance.
The Spanish side still want to keep the 20-year-old Argentinian, who is also handled by Paledes.
The agent added: “Trejo is a very different negotiation and we are trying to find a solution for him. I have been over here for Valero but, when I get home, I will be having a meeting to see what he wants to do.
“My own personal opinion is that it would be a great opportunity for him but I have not spoken to him about it. If I speak to him and he wants to move to Albion we will try to make it happen.”

It is breaking on various websites now though admittedly not the official or Sky.
I remember when we signed the Loon in early summer it was reported as official everywhere but didn’t appear on wba.co.uk for nearly 36 hours. I think with these big signings (£3m+) they like to get the player launch right and break it officially with a photo, quotes, etc. It’s the Albion way - frustrating at times but i for one wouldn’t have it any other way… Boing Boing!!!

-A fair point mate, but the “spitting dummies out” is not just restricted to foreigners - Curtis Davis threatened to strike and hes English. Prima Donnas are all nationalities!
I’ve nothing against players wishing to/engineering a move away from a club, but there are ways to handle it and players like Camara & Davis just showed themselves up for what they really are, and deserve any stick/contempt that comes their way!

What a great signing! The Spanish know how 2 play football thats how they won Euro2008 and he will fit well into our style of game. If this guy’s agent is also the agent for Trejo im sure he will come as well and the only thing we desperatley need is a striker for cover/competition with Miller/Bednar. He DID play for Real Madrid!!! He came up through their youth system, has played in the Champions League for them and only signed for Mallorca last year. As for the “ain’t a baby” comment, at 23 he’s not exactly an old man. You need to learn some facts before spouting.
You don’t have to play for one of the top teams to be a top player. Is Davis not ‘world class’ because you didn’t get him from one of the big four? If he’s not, then you got mugged to the tune of £10million for an ordinary player!
David Villa was top scorer in La Liga last year in the team that scored the most goals. And guess who that team was - Real Mallorca.

Filton - I think Higginbottom from Sunderland would be a decent CCC CB - I see JC is out for a while and Stearman needs time to settle so you need someone in quick.
But as we proved last year - if you score more than you let in most games you will go up - goal averages don’t matter then.

A Spanish colleague of mine is a Real fan; he reckons Valero is quality and unlucky to be let go by Bernd Schuster. This could be a great signing and you feel sorry for whoever is going to be on the bench this season.

My little theory I have come up with is that the official site is holding out for the unveiling of the double or even triple signing of Valero/Trejo/Zheng Zi…….just maybe

I suspect that the final details being thrashed out relate to the amount and timing of payments to be made to Real Mallorca and his agent. Valero has likely already signed and the signature pages are being held in escrow pending resolution of these final issues. I am making the rather surprising assumption that Laughing Wolf was actually NOT present at Valero’s medical - hard to believe I know. Boing Boing

But, while we are in “what if” mode, would he sign for Chumpionship Wulfs or Premiership Baggies?. I think you know the answer to that!.
Also, I don’t expect to win as many games as Wulfs will this season, we are in a different league (in more ways than one) to you now. Just remember, when in the same division we finished 1st & you were 7th. Regarding the Derby record snipe, we have a better chance of staying in the premiership than your lot have of reaching it. I don’t know the player but if you beleieve the hype this would be a major coup for you! Just be warned that players that arrive on a wave of hype can sometimes be a real let you down. Over the years I can think of many many over rated and over hyped players that find it difficult to live with the scrutiny of the fans and the media.

176 - Your article smacks of someone really bitter and desperately searching for something negative to say about the Albion. You’re stating the obvious really. Every signing is a gamble, will he fit in the team, will he fit in the English game.
I’s sure not many people had heard of Ronaldo when he was a young kid playing for a side in Madeira. It’s a little known fact that Torres actually started as a goalkeeper. I’m not saying he’ll turn out as those guys did but TM has obviously seen something in him.
However, TM and JP have seen fit to splash out the best part of 5m for Valero, a club record. The same club that were being ridiculed for not keeping Phillips.
He may turn out to be failure, but sometimes you have to take a gamble to get where you want to be.

180 - Who cares about past triumphs, the game has changed since the 60’s. Cup wins, attendances, major honours are all irrelevant for clubs like us. Most Albion fans accept we can’t compete with the big boys. But compared to where we were, we’ve moved forward significantly. Whereas, the Wolves have stood still, i.e. one promotion but otherwise continually missing out including the famous one in ‘02 when we cam from 11 points behind you, something you lot still can’t accept!!

Truth be told Villa are the biggest club in the midlands followed by wolves then you, we ain’t stood still either we’re building a good young team that will pay dividends this season and next in the prem, considering how many seasons you’ve had in the prem you haven’t really moved that much forward have you, otherwise you would be an established prem club instead your a yo-yo club.
