A man was stabbed in the stomach, chest and face in a street fight.
A 40-year-old man was arrested and bailed after the disturbance in Aldersley Road, Wolverhampton.
Police were called at about 9.30pm on Saturday to reports of a fight between two men. A 25-year-old suffered multiple stab wounds and ran before a motorist stopped to give him a lift and drop him off about a quarter of a mile away near to the Bhela Newsagents further up Aldersley Road.
Sarvjit Tarsem, who works there, said today: “We were just preparing to close up when we heard the door open and someone was shouting for help. I saw he was clutching his stomach and he collapsed on the floor. He just kept saying ‘call the police, call an ambulance’.
“We were very scared because it looked like he was very badly hurt. The police and ambulance arrived very quickly and he was taken away.”
An ambulance was called and the man went to New Cross Hospital where he was treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. He remains in a “poorly but stable” condition in hospital today.
