Wolves have suffered a massive blow with captain Jody Craddock ruled out for three months with a broken foot.
Craddock underwent a scan when the grim news emerged, after he lasted just seven minutes against Sheffield Wednesday.
Boss Mick McCarthy said: “He’s broken his foot – one of the metatarsals. He could be out for three months. He’s got to have it pinned.
“It’s a huge blow to lose Jody, because he’s one of our more experienced players. He’s someone who has always played well for me and is a good competitor.
“It’s a blow for all of us, but especially for him because it’s so difficult for him to accept.
“It was bizarre – there wasn’t a bad tackle in the game but two people have got broken bones – one has a broken leg (Richard Hinds) and one with a broken foot.
“He just put his foot down and ran forward. Jody felt something click in his foot and clearly couldn’t carry on.”

“It’s a huge blow to lose Jody, because he’s one of our more experienced players. He’s someone who has always played well for me and is a good competitor.”
You wasn’t saying this when you chucked him out the door this time last season and let him go to Stoke, who ironically, are in the Premier League now!
Christophe Berra please
Oh! Collins looked good tho.
think we are going to need to get someone in then. A proven quality centre half, even if its someone on loan.
Massive blow, but injuries are going to happen throughout the season and we need to be prepared. MM’s going to need to pull out an ace here.
every cloud has a silver lining, i hope this gives MM the prod to go out and get at least 1 CB ideally 2. If we get the right players in the injury to Craddock may be a blessing in disguise. Not being over negative its that i dont think Craddock is up for the job.
i have never posted negative comments on here while they are playing as whoever plays will get my support.
Now that he is out for 3 months now is the time to get some much needed quality in defence.
Sorry for Jody Craddock. But this could be a blessing in disguise if the manager drafts in a centre back with true presence
Oh no .. that is all we need.
We defornatly need a centre half in now ..
Maybe someone in on loan ..
J.EVANS from MAN U or C.GUNTER from TOTTENHAM ..
Or buy someone in ..
A.GERRARD from WALSALL or E.WARD from COVENTRY.
GET A CENTRE HALF IN A.S.A.P MICK !!
this might be a blessing in disguise, as MM surely now will get the centre half in that we needed anyway.
Unlucky for Jody hope for a speedy recovery.
Now as were 2 defenders down quick get a few strikers in….only joking
Think we should try and get Gerrard of Walsall.
Well done so far:-)
collins was adverage at best on saturday and he was the reason we conceded the 1st goal but enuf about that.
it will show how much of an ambisios club we are in the next few days depending on which of these 3 happen ……
1. play collins with ward on bench? no thanks
2.sign a prem youngster on loan or get a has been on a free? ok for the moment but still not a good solution.
3. sign a quality cb and pay good money! yes please.
Could be a blessing in disguise as now Mick will have to get a CB in. Gabbidon seems a distinct possibility if you believe the rumour mill.

Nail right on the head mate.
After watching Craddock at Plymouth I said Too old, Too slow and Too easily turned. Great in his day but that has now gone. Young and quick replacement please MM.
Up The Wolves
£2m for berra got the money get the player , gravason just left celtic on a free any comments ?
get well soon Jody, were is terryidiotboggie??. since we won 4-1 he has vanished lmao.
its time to shine now muppet mick! get someone in, go on pip roy keane to anton ferdinand, show us you mean business this season this is the area that needs looking at. berra or frank munro
A huge blow to lose Jody at this time. I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.
May I and my two Wolves supporting children send Jody our best wishes, he is always courteous when we have waited for autographs. He has also done Wolves a good job and not afraid to put his body on the line if needed. There has been a lot of talk about getting another centre back (i harped on about it last seeason) the reality is we need to get at least one, now!
Good start Wolves, more of the same and an introduction of Mark Davies please.
Jamie Lanyon holiday park Redruth Cornwall cubs James and Jenny.
NUMBER 11- the first goal was elokobis fault not collins at all
1 - what point are you trying to make exactly?
What has Jody’s broken foot got to do with Stoke getting promotion?
1
Whats the point in slagging McCarthy off after he admitted he made a mistake over Crads last season.
We won 4-1 at the weekend FFS be happy you moron
1 - can you please explain to me the point you are trying to make?
What has Jody’s broken foot got to do with Stoke getting promoted?
Give Neil Collins a break he was class on Saturday and was alot better than Stearman. Iv heard We’re gettin Danny Gabbidon of West Ham.
We desperately need to get two centre backs now!, The one we have needed all summer and one to cover Jody’s absence.
Mark Beavers has been mentioned but will cost ALOT! Gabbidon could be a loan signing, Berra’s new manager says he wants to keep him so I do worry about what sort of cover we will find. Very big blow this one!
My crystal ball (and my mate at the Mol) tells me MM is in for Jonathan Spector on loan (hes been out long term injured and West Ham want he to get match fit) and also Tomas Kadar of Newcastle ….. perhaps ?!?!
16. muppetout its one thing people on here thinking your an idiot but you have to go and prove it with a stupid offering like that. Anton Ferdinand? are you from a different planet to the rest of us?
I am not even gonna explain why its so stupid as if you believe thats a possibility then theres no hope for you.
we have to get behind collins guys.
we all know he will now play. he dont sign for 4 years as back-up and then not use him
we have GOT to get behind him!!
A big blow to lose Craddock but Mick’s got the answer…buy a couple more strikers and attack for 90 mins.
hey gary breen aint found a club yet?? lol id offer sheff wed 2m for beevers, they need the money with all their injuries especially there star man on saturday esajas who went off with an hamstring prob at halftime (thank the lord lol) so they can buy some new players or offer elliott, potter, darren ward plus 1,999,999.99 for him.
Berra - £2m now please
and maybe Gunter on loan (but that is unlikely as Tottenham are looking stretched at CB)
Stearman looks a decent prospect but 2 youngsters at the back may result in twice as many mistakes.
On the positive: We are now forced to get a decent centre-back. On the negative: Does this mean we have to rely on Neil ‘AWOL’ Collins until we get someone?
23 Thought Gabbidon wanted too much money/ wages?
Agreed Neil Collins had a good game Saturday - just concerned re; his lack of pace?
24) Beavers wont be coming(unless we pay BIG money) - signed a recent extension to contract, is a Sheffield lad and wants to play first team for Sheff Wednesday - doesnt want to play in Prem as a sub either
UP THE WOLVES!
Spector would be alright but who’s this KadaR?
Unlucky Jode…
Here’s to a speedy recovery, but we need a top centre half now asap.
Sorry to hear about Jody out for 3 months, he might not be the best CB but he is the best we have at the moment!
I agree that we dont want to “Splash the Cash”
as with previous seasons but Morgan needs to get us a decent CB and asap.
I am sorry but Collins just aint good enough, he has scored some good goals for us but HOW many penalties and free kicks leading to goals did he give away last season!!
I wont boo him, but be realistic he cant do it for us.
11; There was no way that Collins was to blame for the goal, if anyone was at fault it was Elokobi. Collins made one error when he let a ball go to Hennessey and it dropped short. Apart from that he was solid.
The management have been after a suitable C B for a long while now but they are few and far between. I believe the new Hearts manager put the brakes on the selling of Berra, but correct me if i’m wrong. This injury will definitely make us bring someone in as an even greater priority; probably a loan player.
Forget all other priorities, any spare money must now be used to sign a decent centre back
Collins is ok as a squad player but never first choice
Very sorry for Craddock that he has suffered such a blow, he seems a good bloke and always tries his best
T.GRAVESON HAS PARTED COMPANYS WITH CELTIC AND IS AVALIBLE ON A FREE.
OFFER HIM £15K A WEEK AND HE WOULD BE A WOLVES PLAYER FOR SURE.
I think he would be a cracking addition to our squad and would be an incey sort of player and would guide our young wolves team to the prem with his expierence.
GET GRAVESON IN MICK AND A CENTRE HALF AND I WILL BE WELL CHUFFED !!
COME ON ME BABIES !!
craddock is a loss. collins did very well saturday nd will b ok but not 4 the long haul.
elokobi is a qaulity player 2, hez only young so giv him time, i tink he has done very well so far.
berra is a lost cause, so y not anothony gerrard? hez 22 nd pacey so kind of experienced
NOs 11 and 19 I think you are both right.Elokobi should have stopped the winger ,who looked class to me,from cutting in,and Collins should have closed him done quicker. But we won 4 ~1.The test will be how they defend next week.
My sympathy goes out to Jodie Craddock especially as two years ago one of my own metatarsals had to be broken and pinned for medical reasons. Healing cannot be fast-tracked. Now Mick, two centre backs, urgently, please. Preferably big blokes who look scarey and are intimidating in manner.
The fact we haven’t got another decent center half is shocking when it was clear to everyone last year that this was our weak spot. Its simply unaccecptable that we are devestated craddock (a player who isn’t good enough) is injured. We have no chance of the promised land until the defence is fixed.
Really bad news Jody has been a steady influence-Now STEVE, Mr Moxey time to get that Magic 30million going–Berra and one other on loan for cover please–Look into my eyes when I say the magic word SPEND-click my mouse–You will do it–Please—-Crazey Dave
Collins was ok on Saturday but he let one bounce in the area that needed to be dealt with. Was he not watching a similar mistake at Plymouth.
Interestingly Rob Edwards was given 8 out of 10 this week and is in the Sun team of the week!
Thats it then Graveson from Celtic offer him a 1 year contract and he can lead the back if not berra
Lets get Grevsen in for a 1 year contract
I’ve had a look on the t’internet and Kadar is a defender from N’castle … Hungarian and can play across the back 4
I saw this and thought: “Yes!”
We can get in some young blood on loan, a quality defender but Collins and Stearman actually grew with the game on Saturday and looked very decent.
Is it me but I thourght Colins missed nearly every header he challenged for Saturday?? Maybe he did have a good game but im still not convinced.
We won and thats all that matters, so well done to all the players.
Could be the end of the road for Jody, these injuries take a long time, 3 months minimum.
Id say we need two new centre halfs now.
In Mick I trust.
I like Colins — he’s an honest, hard working, player and will get better. Holds his central position well, whilst still getting forward when allowed. And does sensible, steady, things usually. Was superb on Saturday.
But I take the point about needing more pace at the back. When you’ve witnessed the outstanding pace of Joleon Lescott for a few seasons (as Wolves fans have) the difference is very noticeable.
No one wants to see a squad member injured. I wish Craddock a speedy recovery.
I really believe the 2 “M’s” have been looking hard for 1 or maybe 2 options at Centre Back. This just turns the heat up even more. We are so close to having a squad that can achieve automatic promotion……get the right CB(s)in by September and we are looking VERY good!!
ps
Agree someone like a motivated Graveson would be perfect as well!
What’s with all the Collins praise? He made two awful mistakes on Saturday from what i can remember and was outshone by Stearman, a kid, who looked solid against there Striker.
Quick everyone, let Mick know about the players that you are advising that he gets in….. or maybe you think he reads your comments! seriously, get yourselves a life!
Terry where are you !!!! come out !!
unlucky jody but now we can get bera !!
come on you wolves!!
Get Graveson in and Elliot Ward from Coventry He’s one of the best central defender’s outside the premiership, bad luck Craddock but He looked really shaky at plymouth and the striker’s he was up against will be playing league one football next season so mabye it is what we need.there still seems to be a lack of leadership on the pitch we need a proper captain.
I’m confused. Is everyone suggesting that 32 year old Celtic reject midfielder Graveson is signed on twice the pay of any other player as a centre half?? Does anyone think the club are not busting a gut to get a centre half in? Berra fell through because of change of management not lack of will. Gunter was on the bench for Spurs on Sat. Have faith - it’s not fanatsy football.

I have a side bet with my son that we will let in 90+ goals in league & cup this season!
Any doubters?????
We may score more, I think we will need to as Sheffield were not great but could have embarased us, Ipswich will certainly be a stern test for Collins & Stearman!!Any chance of our defence coming forward to head the ball rather than trying to run backwards and head it????
Answers on a postcard to………

BristolC lost their CB to injury Saturday. Today they have signed Webster on loan from Rangers. How hard can it be, McCarthy/Moxey??? Time is ticking!
Gravesen, now he is a free agent is a bloody good shout. Just hope there are no premier league teams interested in him and we might stand a chance otherwise he may be after one last bumper pay day.
Bristol City have signed Andy Webster on loan from Glasgow Rangers according to SSN
Cmon Wolves we need someone decent in ASAP As Keegan said about Newcastle signings not just bodies to make up numbers - quality even if its loanee
think wolves will bid an increased offer for berra but he won’t be allowed to leave. i agree graveson would be a good signing for us…. the ince/rae general type we need in midfield… but doubt we could afford his wages.
gabbidon would be a good loan signing but i think we need to look at buying a center half….gerrard would be ok if we got him cheap enough but still a gamble
john irving from everton would be worth a look at,young, played for england u16s,speedy,was named everton reserve player of the year kept out by super joleon
ive just found out graveson has just being released by celtic he would be a decent buy i we would even have to spend a penny when we can get quality for free
boing boing premier league i said we are premier league i feel so sorry for you lot again no promotion AGAIN boring uninspiring football getting all excited about the albion results in case we lose just to make your week at work go a bit better, wearing that orange and black top to go up the shops and buy the express and dingle to gloat about ILLWESHEMO and evan blake
Let me express the condolences of myself and Mrs Darkness to Jody.
I enjoyed very much the way he returned from loan last season, and was instrumental in turning what was looking like a real disaster into a minor one. Jody could not have done more, and we were really pleased that he got the recognition he deserved with the club captaincy.
3 months out is cruel, best of luck mate… a Wolf through and through!
Just remember, OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH LIGHT!
Im not being Racist but Mick like brittish not Hungrain’s like Rosa. We should go for Anthony McMahon off boro class centre half quick aswell.
We have just got to get a centre half in now even you can see that Moxey! No more tinkering about with what weve got if its not good enough to get us promotion - D.Ward and Collins. Surely there is a decent loan player from a premiership club who’s not getting regular games who could come in and do a job for us.
Freddy Eastwood this seasons Championship top scorer? Who said that?
Time to get the check book out morgan.
The great Billy (Wright) was converted from half-back to centre-half and never looked back. Have we got anyone who could make a similar conversion? Everything is worth looking at. Great 4-1 encouragement to everybody from the week-end. The next challenge now is the tractor boys. They seem to have discovered a rich seam of money over in Suffolk and are buying anything on offer. We will have to be at our very best. I’m sure we’ll give em something to think about. Best regards to Jodie for a speedy recovery.
with craddock out injured for 3 months this increase the urgent need to buy decent quality cb.
berra from hearts has been mentioned a few times, my feeling is why oh why did we muck hearts about. we bid 1£million the 1.5m then 1.75m. but by this time it was too late, we offered the 2 mill for norwich defender etc so why did we not get berrra when we had the chance he is class act hearts captain and will be scotland regular and will get a big money move sooner rather than later.
the reasons we could have got him are hearts have huge debts any player is for sale as long as the price is met so they need the money, his agent was up for the move and he would have come to wolves, also they had no manager at the time. different story now they have a manager who wants to keep him and he wants to stay to see if he gets big move. if we go back in now it hink it would have to be 2.5m but no guarantee he would move now. i feel oportunity missed. i live near edinburgh and my hearts friends rave about berra.
omeone on here mentioned gravesen who’s been freed by celtic. this must be a no no he has not played regularly for 18 months, his wages are too much for celtic let alone wolves and like balde might be ok but would rather we didn’t.
come on the wolves keep it up
NO!!GRAVESEN.
gravesen has been given only the odd game over the last 18 months, he is over rated, over paid and not in the same class as ince/irwin. we do not want lazy big headed money grabbers who are happy to sit back and pick up the wages, celtic have not been able to sell or give away gravesen/balde for the last 12 months. honestly any game he’s played he’s been rubbish.
we missed an opportunity with berra by mucking about with several bids. 2 million right away would have got him. too late now at the time any hearts player was for sale. massive debt, no manager, agent was up for it. no other bids. now new manager, he’s waiting for big move from rangers/celtic or premier league which will come. if we do go back it would have to be 2.5 million or more.
see ya back soon jody
young lad at everton john irving worth getting on loan quick centerback played for england u16 being kept out by super joleon lescott and we all know how good he is
This is actually good news.
Craddock was at fault for both goals at Plymouth, Ball watch for the first & goal for a ball that was Elokobi’s for the second.
Now, before you all start I ain’t slagging the lad, but he has been used to playin the role of ’support’ CB, i.e. playing with a stronger (Lescott) or more experienced (Breen) partner.
Where as, at the moment we are looking towards him to provide authority & I don’t see that as being his game, as he can he a little rash when making his decisions, anyone remember him trying to play Kamara offside at the Mol a couple of yrs ago when the rest of the defence staying put???
2 - 3 to the Albion in the play offs.
We either need someone with bags of experience, or someone on loan bags of pace & built like a brick sh*thouse to give us some presence.
And as for Collins, when he settled in on Saturday (25 mins) we looked v comfortable, and I for one though he did really well, stick with him!!
Any Thoughts???
Johan Djorou 21 year old centre half from Arsenal Did well when on loan at Blues last season Maybe a good possibillity on loan?
How about I told you so.
on at least three different occasions before even our first league game, I said we needed cover in the central defensive area, the reasons I gave for this were,
1. Suspension
2. Injury with a long lay off
I’m so sorry for JC but again MM is playing with our promotion chances.
This as every wolves fan knows is an area that needed strengthening way before the season started, are we now going to have to rush into buying an overpriced player who will be expecting huge wages and possibly have the leverage to dictate such.
To late again MM.
On a brighter note, we played really well on Saturday against SW. Iwelumo man of the match for me strongly followed by Jarvis and Elekobi.
Iwelumo reminds me of the way Dion Dublin used to play strong in attack and selfless in coming back especially for corners where he helped Hennesey out superbly, sheilding him from their attacker every time.
Well done to all the other lads to for a very good all round team performance.
collins is at the least average,he`s better suited to cleaning the other players boots,if we can`t sign a quality cb lets have a look at elokobi and play x england left back gray at leftback
Craig Moore wants out of the Australian A-league… there’s another one for the mixer
In a way iam glad hes out, becacuse that might mean we can go looking for a center back ASAP. if we can play like we did on saturday and get a center back like lescot i reckon we can win this!!!
We have had a bid for Higginbotham accepted by SUNDERLAND
did you here that SUNDERLAND lol
but in all seriously now he is a better defender than we allready have
Sorry to hear about JCs injury,he has been a good servant of the club.It now becomes paramount to sign a proven centre back,it’s times like these that the manager has to earn his money by finding a decent player.I’ve heard lots of names banded around, maybe it’s time we spend some of the chairmans money and buy a useful player as opposed to bringing in an old knacker?
I can’t see that MM wil buy or loan a replacement. He’s likely to play Elokobis at CB if needed and then use Gray as LB. Hope I’m proven wrong.
Good win on Saturday against a Sheff Weds side without thier two best players, Sodje, and one injured striker.
We haven’t been tested yet really and have got 4 points from 6. Good chance for the team to get some rythymn before the likes of Charlton, Reading, Blues.
we desperately needed a CB BEFORE Jody got injured, so that makes it 2 defenders needed.
It’s a glaring weakness in our side, when will MM address it?
Higginbotham has agreed terms.
Wolves to pay £1.25million.
Wot yow lot reck??
86 Sauce OOPS
Source???
Higginbotham has excepted terms.
Sunderland have excepted £1.25m offer!
Hmmmmmmmm
I think thats the last thing wolves needed huh?
more defensives worries, ive said before MM got too mad on strikers this year because you didnt score many last year but its backfired MM made no balance and just went for strikers, he should of gone for a CB before he thought about a striker and then you wouldnt have this situation know.
Higginbotham- when was the last time he played???
Berra- would of been berra
any decent win over Wednesday however they are going to be strugling at the bottom this year, tuffer challeneges will come for you guys soon
this is the best news i’ve heard all day
Such a blow as Craddock is a top centre-half. All the people on hear saying it’s good news must seem to forget on how many times he saved our bacon last year! Now i was not at the Plymouth game a couple of weeks ago so i can’t comment on that - but he’s solid and 99.9% reliable!
Hurry back Jody!
