Barry demand on Villa future

barry.jpegVilla midfielder Gareth Barry wants his future resolved by the time the season starts.

Barry hoped to be a Liverpool player by now but it is understood the Reds’ American owners George Gilett and Tom Hicks are still to authorise the move.

They are having second thoughts over the £18m asking price Villa are demanding.

Sources close to Barry confirmed he remains keen to go but there is growing concern at Liverpool’s failure to wrap up the deal.

The midfielder is eager to know exactly where he stands by the time the Premier League season kicks off next Saturday.

Staying at Villa remains an option for the England international and Arsenal are yet to be ruled out of the equation.

Hand in a transfer request if you want to go Mr. Barry… oh that’s right I forgot you can’t as it would hamper your loyalty bonus payment - what a joke!!

Gareth Barry has to ask himself who wants him the most, and where is he likely to get regular first team football. Or is he just a greedy so and so who wants to get what he can.
And, has he thought how he would feel if Liverpool failed to get through the Champions League qualifying round?
    Now that would be funny!!

    We can’t afford him.
We don’t need him- we’ve got better plays already on the books.
    Let Arsenal have im

Not sure who looks more stupid….the Fat Waiter, or Gareth Barry!! Barry nailed his colours to the mast, and they were not Claret and Blue. Maybe he will realise he is not bigger than the club.

    Poor lad must be devastated.
Where is he going to play football next year? A new contract with either Liverpool or Arsenal or much improved terms to stay with Villa.
Tough choices what with the credit crunch n all.
Me thinks Mr Barry will be ok.

Gareth Barry must be sooooo pleased that Liverpool are falling over themselves to secure his signature;it must be nice to know how much they value his services! Word is that he could STILL end up staying at Villa. The trouble is, does anybody want to see him do this after his contemptible behaviour towards Martin O’Neill and the club? Personally, I think that he’d be as welcome as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip at VP after all the trouble, but a couple of good performances and a kiss of the badge, and who knows?

This story is ALMOST as long-winded and boring as the Freddie Eastwood saga…..

Come on Barry, strap a pair on either confirm you are staying or that you’ll go whenever they finally stump up the money, dont go placing another deadline that you have no intention of honouring!

Demand what he likes. MON has no need to tell Barry anything - after all he doesn’t want to be here so why should we bother talking to him now? He can wait and see what’s in store for him when he realises Liverpoo can’t raise the money and won’t make a bid. Dillusional bindippers - you got to pity them :)
    UTV.

Spot on dave a- he just signed the contract. WHAT DID HE THINK HE WAS SIGNING???

Sorry Gareth the ball was never in your court and it remains the same to this day. I agree with Prawn, Dave and Villa Paul, Barry has shown how “loyal” he is and he doesnt deserve to wear the claret and blue as a result. I think Arsenal could still be a possibility. I think we are in the midst of finding a better attacking option now anyway

What an immense bore!! He should politely tell Liverpool it’s off and make a statement to say he will stay at Villa for another term - it didn’t work out, maybe next time - and thats the end of it. That way he would save face credibility and settle down.
But without doubt Villa should after all this not budge on the price. That would make a statement to Liverpool that it’s no romance without finance.

GO NOW, BARRY! How dare you deem the mighty Villa now worthy of your services now that the fat waiter can’t afford you!

When Barry was so sure he would get his own way, he said a lot of things he probably regrets now. Unfortunately, once the toothpaste is out of the tube, it does’nt go back in again..!! No amount of badge kissing etc in the future is going to make Villa fans forget. Gareth Barry seems to be basically a decent bloke, but has been silly enough to listen to the wrong people. Does he really now think that Liverpool want him so badly…I think not. All along, this whole saga was probably more about keeping Gerrard happy, and not about how Barry would improve the Liverpool side. If Gerrard goes, the Fat Waiter knows his chances of winning anything also goes, and his job with it. Sad really. Put a bid in for Gerrard…we have the money…let them play together at Villa Park..!! This is not the Villa of old they are dealing with. I back MON and Randy 100% in this saga, and their stance on this issue actually gives me some pride in my team, and the management. Capitualte on this, and before we know where we are, we have unwelcome bids for other valuable players like Young, Agbonlahor etc. We dont need the money, we dont need to sell, and Barry needs to know what signing a contract means.

I dont know if NoEllis82 made a typing error when he wrote Liverpoo, but it made me smile and it fits.
