Midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker insists Villa’s pre-season training camp in Spain has been no holiday.
The squad arrived on Monday to be greeted by warm sun and sandy beaches, although any notions of a break were soon disspelled when the coaching staff got their hooks in to the players.
On the pitch, Villa played out a 1-1 La Linea in a practice match last night, before taking on Marbella tomorrow. Also of note, defender Curtis Davies got 90 minutes under his belt.
Reo-Coker said: “We are training hard and that’s important, as we get ready for the start of the Premier League season, as well as our important UEFA Cup qualifying games.
“This is an important stage in our pre-season programme. We want to work as hard as possible with the coaches as we get ourselves ready.”

Playing a practice match in lovely warm sunshine, first class accomodation food and flights, all paid for by someone else???? Come off it Nige, who are you trying to kid, training may be a little strenuous but thousands of people do that kind of thing for fun every day, oh and guess what? they dont get paid extortionate wages to do it either, get on with the job and stop trying to convince us how hard done by you are, you whimp.
