Toyota is shunted onto Clio

Workers at Delta Process Systems Ltd watched in horror as a car ploughed into two parked cars, shunting one on top of the other.

But as police arrived to investigate, the watching workers became part of the salvage operation, lifting the cars apart with a forklift tuck.

The crash happened at around 9.45am on Old Walsall Road, outside the office of the manufacturing company.

Haulier Mark Gumbley said: “I was loading up my van and saw it happen. There was a loud bang, like an explosion or a bomb. The Rover just drove straight into it. “All the air bags went off and it started to fill up with smoke. The driver got out and just look at me, as if to say ‘what just happened’.”

He said the car, a black Rover, shunted the silver Toyota Corolla on top of a small blue Renault Clio, which were both parked.

“The girl who owned the Renault was crying her eyes out, apparently she had her car stolen a while ago and that was the replacement,” added Mr Gumbley.

Dave Meller, director of Delta Process Systems said: “It was quite a big bang, everyone looked up and went to the windows. Then the police came up and asked if we could help out. The scene was quite funny really.”

He added: “The Rover car went straight into the side of the other car which somehow land on top of the other one.

“First we had to tow away the Rover which we parked next door, then we lifted up the other car, off the other one and onto the side of the road.”

Police officers closed off the road while they went to work but it had all been cleared up within 20 minutes, according to Mr Meller.

“It didn’t take long, we did quite a good job,” he said. “Lifting a car is easy enough to do on a fork lift.”

Thousands of fantastic holidays to choose from!
