Drivers are set to be banned from parking at some of the busiest points on Brierley Hill High Street as part of plans to tackle congestion.
The radical plans will cover more than 40 roads, several residential, and are designed to help ease the flow of heavy traffic around Brierley Hill and Brockmoor.
Traders and residents have voiced little opposition to the proposals and it is hoped the measures will come into force towards the end of the year.
It is aimed to tie-in with the planned opening of the £20 million congestion busting Parallel Route.
Roads which will be no waiting zones include parts of the High Street in Brierley Hill and Brockmoor, Albion Street, Addison Road, Bank Street, Bent Street, Bryce Road, Canal Street and Cottage Street.
Church Hill, Church Street, Dudley Road, Fens Pool Avenue, Fenton Street, Fisher Street, Foxdale Drive, Gordon Crescent, Hickman Road, Hill Street, John Street and Kerry Close are also included.
The zones have also been planned for Level Street, Lindsey Place, Little Cottage Street, Mill Street, Moor Street, Mount Avenue, New Town, North Street, Norwood Road, Old Bush Street, Parkes Street, Pearson Street, Pensnett Road, Seagers Lane, Talbot Street, The Gateway, Venture Way, Victoria Street, Wallows Road, Waterfront Way, William Street and Wilson Road.
Other restrictions include no stopping at certain times, making some streets one way and banning right turns.
Councillor Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation, said: “These changes will allow free movement of traffic in what is a heavily congested area.”
There have been a handful of concerns raised about one or two of the recommendations which will be subject to consultation with Brierley Hill Area Committee before a final decision is made.
The remainder of the proposals are set to be approved by Councillor Adams at a meeting on Thursday.
