A funeral date has finally been set to lay murdered Stafford woman Moira Jones to rest. A service will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Weston, on August 9 from 11.30am.
Last weekend, Moira’s parents attended a memorial service for their daughter in Glasgow almost two months after she was found dead in the Scottish city.
Speaking this week, her father Hugh Jones, 69, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the messages of support, letters and cards we have received.”
Earlier this month, a Slovakian man was extradited to the UK and charged with Moira’s death. Marek Harcar, 32, was also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice when he appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on July 17. He made no plea, no application was made for bail and he was remanded in custody.
Moira’s body was discovered yards from her home in Glasgow’s Queens Park on May 28. The 40-year-old, who had moved to the city from the Stafford area several years ago, had been robbed, sexually attacked and bludgeoned to death.
