Woman of 86 in fire rescue

A wheelchair-bound woman was rescued from her home where she lives alone in Stafford after being overcome by fumes.

Milk burning on the gas hob filled the 86-year-old woman’s kitchen with fumes.

Stafford firefighters were called to the semi-detached house in John Amery Drive, Burton Manor, at 10 o’clock last night.

The woman was lifted out of the house by the firefighters and was checked over by paramedics before being left with her family.
