Cech mate for season start

camp-cech.jpegAlbion new-boy Marek Cech says he will be in peak condition for the start of the season after marking his debut with a goal.

The Slovakian international played for 45 minutes at Cheltenham and scored his side’s only goal with the aid of a deflection.

The £1.4m former Porto left-back is confident he will be ready to face the Gunners, despite arriving at The Hawthorns playing catch-up after starting pre-season late.

He said: “Every day I’m getting better and better and I felt that the 45 minutes were very good. I felt very powerful and when I wanted to run and sprint I was ready to do it.

“If I keep playing games I feel I will stay powerful. I have to thank Dan Harris, the fitness coach, because he has been preparing me all the time.

“When other players have been free he has had me training with him. I think that prepared me well for my first start.

“It wasn’t my decision but Porto told me I couldn’t train with the team, because they had already made decisions on which players would play.

“I couldn’t go to training with them. That’s why I didn’t train with the team but I was training individually.

“I hope I will be better prepared than I was for the first start and I will be ready, not only for Arsenal but for every game.”

Cech was joined in the Baggies side last night by fellow new boy Scott Carson, who signed three days later from Liverpool. The full-back is delighted to be joined at The Hawthorns by another international.

He said: “I saw in the game that he is a very good goalkeeper. I hope that every buy will be a good one and it will help us in the future in the Premier League.

“If you have a good goalkeeper you can be more offensive, because you know you have someone behind you who can help you out.”

It all seems to have gone quiet on the transfer front again. The last time it was this quiet we signed a couple of players the next day. Lets hope its the same this time.

Anybody have any ideas about signings, other than the usual Rangers pair etc???

I’d go for Dawson (Spurs) or one of the Arsenal boys - Senderos or Djourou. If we’re after an exciting loan signing maybe we should go for Scott Sinclair!!!

Good to see a good confidence boost for cech, im well pleased about the signings weve made so far especially Carson and Zuiverloon. would like too see Senderos for the defence also ive heard Stefan car and salano are available on a free both would be gd additions. and finally id like Lita, Misfud or Jerome too boost ur strike forse sure mowbury will make the right choices anyway

It seems the loan siging of Alexandre Song from Arsenal has gone quiet. It’s reported that we’re upping our bid to £2 million for Meite from Bolton.

I totally trust Mowbray and I’m sure he’ll sign the central defenders, holding midfielder and a striker that we need.

Watch out for Zuiverloon next season, he’s hot hot property!

    Boing Boing!

Cech will need to be in peak condition as he isn’t use to the pace of football he’ll be playing….. Nuff said.

  6. Happy_baggie said:

5 - yeah he’s only been playing that rubbish dutch and international football aint he - how ever will he cope ??

By the way, we don’t play kick and rush in the prem like you coca cola boys - i think he will manage.

you will be bottom of the Prem come end of August and end of season..lol
    JOKE SIGNINGS!!!

villa villa, your time will come. We have heard all the bravardo before. i would get your own house in order first.Sold out to the yanks and what have you got

  9. Nedball said:

7 - You’ve got no clue have you?!
Cech looked good last night, Carson’s kicking looked great too, so that’s a marked improvement already!

We do need a goal scorer though, otherwise we’re going to struggle

    7. Villa - That’s pretty rich coming from a Villa Fan. Yes you may have one of the best managers in the league, but do you really think he will stay when a BIG club comes in for him. Ferguson won’t be at Man Utd forever!!

Then it’s back to mid-table finishes again and again and again

Oh i almost forgot, aren’t you supposed to have a billionaire chairman?? Not really been splashing the cash have you!!

    9. ned ball you will struggle its a carpenter you need.

7,Villa. Why cant you credit the albion for doing well?We have never been whipping boys, even when we first came up so it certainly aint gonna happen this time….and even if we get relegated we will have a great season after winning the championship so it is a win win for us baggies.

I actually like martin o neil and think he is one of the best managers in the prem, but you have to ask yourself…with villa being the biggest club in the midlands…what have they achieved recently? They are boring. Much rather be in our position than yours mate. Its a great time to be a baggie.

Also, I could do with the point of your post too if you have one?

You are a yo-yo team and with the signings so far you will remain a yo-yo team. Conversely Wolves (for once) seem to have the makings of a great, long term, young, talented team watch and weep Baggie fans as we pass you going up as you tumble down the divisions yet again at the end of the season.

7 villa joke signings and you lot are after 37 year old brad fredel from blackburn,if you get him you will all say what a great signing he is,past his best,i think we signed the best keeper this summer he will come good under TM no problem.

  16. Nedball said:

14 - Cornish, I’ll give you my view…..you’re talking out of your behind!!

How have you decided that you have the makings of a great long term, young, talented team?
If you’re talking about the signings you’ve made this Summer I disagree, plus the style of football you play is boring, your season ticket sales are down and you’ve got no good news coming from your club so you’re commenting on our stories AGAIN!!
Also, your fans have no faith in your manager, or Chief Exec and you’re constantly under achieving.
Couple these factors with the fact that your nearest (geographically anyway) rivals, have been outperforming you for the last 10 years.
Hence my reasoning for me referring to you speaking from the area of your body that you wipe most often.

I know its admirable batting all these stupid Wolves comments out of the ground but don’t give them the satisfaction. Albion did all their talking on the pitch last season. Enough said.

The new signings are young and talented. I’m sure more will come soon and whatever happens you know its gonna be exciting!

Still missing two centre halfs, a holding midfielder and two proven forwards in the prem imo. Moore/Bednar/Beattie/Miller arent premiership goalscorers

Cornish - Think you’d better take your keyboard to be looked at, for some reason it seems to be typing out last years comments!!

The difference between your comment and Nedballs is that Nedball’s is all fact, yours is all opinion, but the same opinions that we had this time last year, forgive me if I don’t take them seriously!!

BOING BOING BAGGIES PREMIER LEAGUE AND LOVIN’ IT.

14 cornish,i would rather be a yo-yo club than a no-go club like your lot,we ALL know that IF the right offer was made for any of your so called STARS they would be sold, than again HAS ANY OF THE BIG BOYS IN THE PREM EVEN LOOKED AT THEM??????
    yep thought so.

Was at Whaddon Road last night Great Goal from Cech but i thought we were dire against a crap league 1 side who just about stayed up last season like the look of Joss Labide.. Barotsz Slusarski look average. Carson did well… Apparently A.Meite is very slow… we need a Derek Mciness type of midfielder tough tackling… and a Striker who can find the back of the net!

If you are on about Steven Carr he is past it !the same oes for Solano!

    Scott Sinclair yep good Striker

here are my thoughts on who we shud get.
    Hossam Ghaly
    Anthony Gardner
    James Harper
    Ivar Ingimarsson/Ibrahim Sonko (both Reading)
    Scott Sinclair
    Jerome Thomas!

    Anyone Agree…??

You are so right, we are only signing players with Champions League experience, a keeper who has played for England, we are clearly on a downward spiral…. YEAH RIGHT!

I bet you can’t wait for season to start to watch your team ‘ put a shift in’!

You are at least 5 years behind us as a club now!

    IT MUST REALLY HURT!

I see Blackburn are in the hunt for a keeper..
    MMMMMM Bye Bye Hennasey!

Cornish - Watch and weep ???? If crying with laughter counts then I’m your man.

Watching wolves trying to get out the CCC is like watching a spider trying to get out the bath… occassionally you think they will do it (spiders ALWAYS tell you they are gonna do it this time) but then they slide back yet again.

I remember a spider once got right to the edge - but then I flicked him back in and washed him down the plug hole … a bit like giving him an 11 point lead - only to dash his hopes at the last.

I hope you found those views interesting.

    Joke signings?
Scott Carson - International keeper that villa fans only slagg of since he didnt sign for them.
Gianni Zuiverloon - Dutch under 21 international with bags of potential
Marek Cech - over 50 appearances for FC porto including numerous champions league matches.
If they are joke signings I don’t mind laughing my pants off!

Time of course will tell who is right in these matters, which are of course only opinion at the moment. Do not take as fact the often expressed views of a few, repeat few, read the names, so called fans on our web site about our manager and chief exec.
I will ask you to look at the ‘prozone’? figures published on the Wolves site. After that your comment about negative and boring will be exposed for what they are.
I do as an exiled midlander however hope that, however unlikely it may be, your team meets with success in the top division.

Personally, I feel sad that there are still a few moronic Wolves supporters who shudder when they think of Albion’s achievment last season. Yes, we MAY come back down, we may, by the skin of our teeth stay up, or we may surprise everyone.I would be jealous as hell if it was Wolves going up,and not us, but I want all midland teams to do well. The trouble is with folk like Cornish Wolf is this: For years they have had more money than us, now they can’t call us Tesco boys. ON AVERAGE WE HAVE ACHIEVED MORE IN THE LAST TEN YEARS THAN WOLVES. THEY HATE THAT. As sir Jack so aptly put it…”No more Golden Tit.”

I was listening to TALKSPORT the other day and
they had this discussion about who are your 3
most valuable player assests and how much would
you sell them for,so I`d go for these 3.
GIANNI ZUIVERLOON -In a couple of seasons time

    this
kid will be worth 10M with the likes of MAN UTD
    sniffing round.
ISHMAEL MILLER-If Ish can learn to use his
right foot then he agian could be worth 10M
ROBERT KOREN-This player has it all already
    5M no problem!

And if TONY MOWBRAY is thinking about playing
1 up front then I reckon he should go for this
    starting 11.

    Scott Carson/Carl Hoefkens/Marek Cech/
    Neil Clement/Paul Robinson/Ishmael Miller/
    Robert Koren/Jonathan Greening/Kim Do-Heon/
    James Morrison/Roman Bednar.

MOWBRAY PLEASE PLAY THIS TEAM AGAINST ARSENAL!
    AND WE WILL WIN!
