Seyi Olofinjana has returned to pre-season training five days earlier than scheduled in his bid to win a dream move to the Premier League from Wolves.
Olofinjana was due to report back for his delayed return to work yesterday, but the Nigerian international was back five days early.
The £3m-rated transfer-listed midfielder is training on his own at Compton and won’t be joining the squad on tour in Scotland. as boss Mick McCarthy is convinced he is bound for the top flight this summer.
Despite interest from several clubs believed to include Hull – along with Wigan and Stoke – Wolves have yet to receive any bids for the 28-year-old, who is exiled at Compton.
Boss McCarthy would love to welcome the player back to the fold, but admits he is planning without having him.
He said: “I saw him at the Hereford game last Wednesday and he was back in training on Thursday, Friday and all weekend at Compton.”
“He’s not going to be coming out here. I’m planning without him. I’d love him to stay but he’ll end up going.
“I have an agreement with him. I wanted him to stay last season and I hoped we’d get up. He’s a Premier League player and if gets the opportunity, he’ll go.
“If he doesn’t go, it won’t break my mind to have him back. It wouldn’t take long to pick up the pieces because he’s a fabulous player.
“There will be a club for him. I’m confident for him because he’s a good player.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to, I’ve said ‘take him’ because if I was a Premier League manager, I’d sign him – he’s that good.
“He’ll probably be better in the Premier League than he was in the Championship.”
Transfer-listed Darren Potter also won’t be travelling to Scotland after staying behind with a chest infection.
Rob Edwards is still suffering from the effects of a block tackle at Chasetown on Friday and failed to train yesterday.

Yes he is … 1 game in every 6 …
don’t go george!
i really hope he doesnt go!!
cant see us goin up without him
Hope someone comes in soon for him and we can get rid. We don’t want players at the club who don’t want to be there.
That’s odd, no so-called Wolves fans moaning about this article? Surely there must be some comment in there for them to moan about. I mean they managed to make a mountain out of a molehill yesterday regarding the Stephen Ward left back issue!
Come on all the negative numpties, lets be havin ya, lets moan about… nothing!
He’ll be a deadline day mover …. Bolton are my tip (from the inside)
He is nowhere near as good as MM or even George himself thinks !!I wouldnt even say he was guaranteed a place at Wolves never mind that he is a “premiership player” . Move on from this one and cash in Wolves !!
If no-one comes in for him - then he’ll see that if he wants the prem he’ll have to do it with us. That might concentrate his mind a bit!
He is rubbish. We are better off without him!
Better midfielders at the club let him go
I agree with the hes good 1 in 6, i also agree he will me better in the premiership than the championship as premier midfielders get more protection from the refs, any top 6 finish this year and i’ll be happy, and if we get one more top class defender, i’ll be really happy with the squad, i really feel iwellumu (not sure of spelling lol) will add another dimension i feel weve missed since Akinbyi if were losing 1-0 i think he can make an impact, also if were winning 1-0 i think he will take the pressure off, im really optimistic this season, i think on paper there are better teams in the division but will they have the same drive and commitment and team spirit the wolves have, i just hope us fans can have some patiance, and dont get me wrong im not a happy clapper, i was fuming after enough games last year, my 20 min drive home from wolverhapton felt like 2hrs most saturdays, any sorry to go on,
He is on his day the best midfielder we have, but that is the problem he has too many off days, if he was more consistent he would be worth millions more. UP THE WOLVES.
5; Ragster; Although I agree with your sentiment, can you not see the irony in that staement.
im more concerned about the central defensive area. Going no where, the McCarthy way oh yes.
He is worth 3m. of any Premiership clubs money…….Honestly!!!
4# l agree with you, we dont want people at the club who dont want to be there. We dont want fans who will not support the team. Get rid Good riddance to you idiot.
Too inconsistent - can only see him going to a bottom 3 club.
Can honestly say I could count on one hand the number of games where I’ve seen premiership class.
Mick loves him though. His muddle name must be Seamus
He will do well in the Premiership - at the end of the day he is a Nigeria regular. George had a poor season last season though.
We have Davies, Edwards, Jones, Gleeson and Henry all chasing 2 places and people are asking for another midfielder on top.
Let’s backtrack 2 seasons and when we played sides like Blues, early on, they were a far better unit. We should have beat them at the end of the season and our squad is a match for their’s now. Get behind this team!
I’d like to moan about Basking Sharks. I’ve never seen one basking anywhere. It’s not fair. If I had my way, i’d have some Basking Sharks on the pitch for the half time entertainment, doing what they do best. Bask.
If we can get 3 million for him we will be very very lucky.Vastly overrated I cannot believe any premiership club will buy him.
16) You can stay in the clouds as long as you want. Some of us want this club to progress.
i cant wait for him to go
once again you ww fans are fickle, live with it you are second rate CCC club, you have no great players, all the players your new hero MM signed no one wants, never mind S Ward is playing in goal next week and Defence the next and Foeward after that, what a great player you have. Buy cheap WW thats your Moto
No 10 mancwolf- you didnt say which midfielder was better than Seyi? have we got a 2 mill plus rated international midfielder apart from Seyi?
Boggy 1 you really are brain dead, im looking forward to you losing every week next season and not scoring many goals lmao. UP THE OLD GOLD AND BLACK.
Good riddance! Over-rated!
I don’t see how people can say Seyi is rubbish he is a brilliant play and we won’t do as well without him! Anyway can’t David Jones fill his place if he leaves or is jones a winger?
This guy thinks hes better than he his. Already in pre-season with the likes of dave edwards, karl henry, david jones and our very own mark davies looks an exciting centre midfield battle. Sorry george but your overated in my opinion, you didnt even look interested last season! goodbye x
Another rubbish player totally over rated by the fans. Go soon, good riddance, and take Ward and Potter with you. YOu ain’t a half decent player between you.Wah !
23 Baggy 1 - Predictably boring comment - Have you not got anything that resembles being “original” or would that require some thought???
Anyhoo, personally you have enough on your hands thinking about how many goals you conceeded in pre season so far - was that with your new “England keeper”???
Enjoy your visit to the Prem - hope it lasts for you - Good luck and all that TTFN

36 Cant wait for the first Prem game on Sky - Wonder what the scoreline will be???
Care to give us all a prediction our Boggie friend???
I can never understand why some of you guys rate olofinjana so badly. Everytime we beat ya he has a brilliant game, and i for one would love to have him at the albion. But you’ll know him better than me if you see him week in week out. But hand on heart without being bitter about him going, is he a good player?
34. Oh dear touched a nerve have I? I bet you Dad is bigger than mine etc etc. Typical childish comments.
