Baggies must wait for new boys

camp-cech.jpegAlbion fans must wait until tomorrow for a glimpse of new signings Marek Cech and Scott Carson after the duo were left out for tonight’s friendly at Shrewsbury.

Cech is set to be included for the second of the Baggies’ back-to-back friendlies at Cheltenham tomorrow, while Carson could also make his bow at Whaddon Road.

Veteran keeper Dean Kiely will get the first chance this evening, to stake a claim for the number one shirt in the Premier League.

Kiely is included among 12 professionals for the visit to the New Meadow. The 18-man squad is completed by six Hawthorns trainees.

Leon Barnett and Neil Clement will both start tonight while Paul Robinson will be out to impress, as he faces up to increased competition from new left-back Cech.

Kim Do-Heon and James Morrison will form an experimental central midfield duo, while Roman Bednar and Luke Moore will be paired in attack.

Cech has been pencilled in to make his first appearance tomorrow after training with his new team mates for a week.

Mowbray will decide later today whether to include Carson at Cheltenham.

The former Liverpool keeper was meeting the bulk of his new team mates for the first time this morning, after training on his own yesterday as the rest of the squad enjoyed a day off.

The inclusion of reserve keeper Danek in tonight’s squad can be seen as a hint that Carson and youngster Luke Daniels will be on duty tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s squad is certain to include Jonathan Greening, Carl Hoefkens, Pele, Chris Brunt and strikers Ishmael Miller, Bartosz Slusarski and Craig Beattie.

Squad: Kiely, Danek, Hodgkiss, Barnett, Clement, Robinson, Dorrans, Kim, Morrison, MacDonald, Bednar, Moore, Lake-Gaskin, Saeid, Pike, Samuels, Downing, Elford-Alliyu.
