Alex Rae believes Wolves are ready to ‘do an Albion’ and blow the Championship away on a wave of attacking football.
The former Wolves midfielder saw his Dundee side beaten 1-0 by Mick McCarthy’s men and agrees Wolves were the better side throughout. They created numerous chances before Sylvan Ebanks-Blake’s last minute winner.
Rae reckons Wolves have the passing ability to break teams down.
He said: “I haven’t seen Wolves play for ages, but they showed quality all over the park. That was the toughest test we have faced:
“In the first half we had plenty of energy, but those energy levels got depleted because Wolves kept the ball better than us.
“That allows the second striker to have more time and space second half, because our guys didn’t have the energy levels to get about.
“Getting out of the Championship is murder but the good thing for Wolves, having played in big Mick’s teams, is they always play football.
“I always think his teams play stuff that’s attractive on the eye so I’m sure they will be in the shake-up again.
“They just finished outside the play-offs, but having got a few bodies in and with some really good kids as well, they’re playing some good stuff.
“He has a strong squad as well – he has 24 out here plus a couple back home as well so it’s a nice position to be in.”
Rae picked out half-time substitutes Michael Kightly and Karl Henry as two stand-out performers.
He said: “You can understand why there was a lot of Premier League interest in Michael Kightly with that kind of pace because defenders can’t live with it.
“I also like the boy Karl Henry. I think he can pick a pass, but it was also good to see a few old faces.”
