Heatwave hits region

Summer sunshine will set temperatures soaring across the West Midlands this week - but the heatwave won’t last long.

Umbrellas and anoraks could be ditched in favour of t-shirts and shorts over the next few days.

Temperatures are set to soar to almost 80F (27C) by Thursday, but will be replaced by thunder and cooler weather by Friday.

John Warner, Express & Star weatherman, said long-term forecasts for August and September are for drier and warmer weather.
