Winger Chris Brunt wants West Brom to shed their yo-yo tag and become Premier League fixtures.
The Baggies have twice won promotion to the top flight in recent years only to return to the Championship after one and two seasons.
Now Brunt believes the time is right for the club to stay in the Premier League.
“I want to play as many games in the Premier League as possible and hopefully build on last season,” said Brunt.
“We did well last season but it is going to be far tougher this season.
“We are playing big teams week in, week out so it will be really tough for all the squad.
“But hopefully we can all dig in together and have a really good season and put our mark on the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world so you expect the best players in the world to be playing there.
“It is going to be a big step up from the Championship but we’ve got players who have been there before and hopefully they can pass on their experience to the other lads.
“Hopefully we can cause a few upsets this season and do well for ourselves and and bed Albion back into the Premier League.
“You have to look to clubs who have stayed there consistently for the last four or five years after getting promoted. The last couple of times Albion have been promoted to the Premier League they have gone straight back down.
“Hopefully we can change that this year because we have to lose that tag.
“You don’t want to get tagged as a yo-yo team. Everybody’s aim after promotion is to stay in the Premier League but I think we have got the players and the staff to do a bit better this season.
“Hopefully we can surprise a few teams and do a bit better than just staying up.”
Brunt admits he and his team mates have been pushed to the limit during their week of pre-season action in Holland and Germany. But he is hoping he will feel the benefits when the season starts.”
“It has been pretty tough,” he said. “The time inbetween the training sessions makes the days pretty long but the heart rate figures show the lads are putting a lot of work in. The game on Wednesday was a good workout. The game was a bit rusty, which is understandable for the first game of pre-season.
“It has been good so far and hopefully we can round it off against Cologne by progressing from Wednesday night’s game.
“Results in pre-season aren’t really too important but it would be nice to win the game.”

I thought the Dingles were a Yo-Yo club?
Yo aye good enuff and Yo aye playing in the Prem !
You have to win to avoid that not lose 4-1 like
last night, got the name right though the yoyo,s.
Lol we are euro contenders now! Wolves are more yo than yo yo, as they can’t get up in the first place!
West Bromich Albion were thrashed 4-1 by German side Cologne, thats 6 in two games , so mr Brunt it will be doing the yo yo in mowbray stile lol
good job pre season friendlies aren’t important brunty cos we got hammered saturday.in away im pleased we did it gives the chairman food for thought.I feel there will be a few more new faces this time next week.
That’ll be 38 games in total then.
passing the baggies the wanderers way on our way to the prem of course.
Hello everyone - I’m back !! Did you miss me ??
Big thanks to Jarrod for keeping me updated on the transfer news….I was getting withdrawl symptoms.
Looks like 2 great new signings - still can’t actually believe we have signed Scott Carson - BRILL !!!
Not great results over in Germany - but sometimes its better to see the areas that need working on than fluke a win and paper over the cracks…. plus these early friendlies rarely tell you much - just a chance for the players to get back on the pitch.
So, whilst I’ve been away have you have all been playing nicely….??
2. IDIOT
Your just jesting are’nt you Michael
Try to get a grip on reality.
I know it must be difficult at your tender age.
2 Mickey me boy.
Once again speaking from a position of strength and knowledge. You’ve never yo yo’d have you. The reason being you’ve only got promoted to the Prem once.
Sneaked in through the back door of the play offs didn’t you?
Came straight back down didn’t you?
Finished rock bottom didn’t you?
As a club that has never had the benefit of a rich benefactor, we’ve had to yo yo. As have Charlton and a number of other ‘poor’ relations like ourselves. Anyway we’ll get on with our Premier League challenge in the real world while you dream about Prince Charming Sugar Daddy number three coming along and putting your mighty club where they belong. In the meantime feel free to carry on attacking us if it helps ease the pain. We’re big enough to take it.
Or 6 Mickey me boy as you have now become.
i need to get a grip on reallity?
and your the ones saying you a european contenders, go figure.
i never told anyone my age so you must have mystical powers.
come back next season after 38 games and we will see who is right.
Very important question!!
Has anyone heard anything about our new sponsor / strip yet?
I’ve still got £80 burning a hole in my pocket awaiting to be spent on new strips I can wear when I’m at the Emirates.
Tickets picked up this morning……..what a lovely warm feeling!!
Whie we were losing to two Bundesliga clubs I seem to recall the Dings losing at Wrexham?
Ha Ha
9. so reality is that there is no way you lot will get relegated and no way we can get promoted.
i think you need to get a grip on reality.
do you live in the real world
i no sorry your a sandwell town fan.
you live in a s***hole.
Welcome back H_B, hope you had a gud un wherever that was.
Michael, you must be Sam Dingle!!
How’s Samson doing?
I think the only thing you need to know about reality is that The Albion are in the Premiership and Wolves are in the Championship. That’s reality, everthing else is speculation.
Wolves are the bigger club though
LADS LADS i come on here all the time to see whats happening and i must say it is fun BUT you have got to move on. we are never going to play the dingles again so its about time they started to go on the blues site and left us to concentrate on the best league in the world THE PREMIERSHIP (i love that name). We should go and attack the Seals site and see how many 40yr+ c+b’s join in. think about the military the dingles should address their posts dear sir on this site (cos we are superior) Sorry dingle but we have got bored with ya, take it like a man and say hello to kevin phillips for me! i know he likes to get personal with ya. IN MOWBRAY WE TRUST
10.The Real Bully, As a fisherman would say, easy
to get a gaff into takes the bait hook line and
sinker,a real dimwit.
19 - Yeah you are the bigger club, you have a bigger statium, better history.
We, on the other hand are in the Premiership.
Think some of you Wolves lot take this site a bit too seriously!! Still it’s nice to see you lot getting wound up as per usual!
SLAG SLAG SLAG, is that all we are going to hear again this season? GET REAL, West Brom ARE in the Prem, and we are not! THEY will be the ones playing the top teams this season NOT US! The only way we will be joining them is supporting THE WOLVES and getting behind them,ARE YOU LISTENING SOUTH BANK?
CUT out the negative comments and SUPPORT BOTH BLACK COUNTRY TEAMS,
GOOD LUCK TO WOLVES AND ALBION THIS SEASON,
Lets hope it goes right for them.
21 Big IQ Rich.
Eloquent as usual but don’t be so hard on yourself.
least we in premiership unlike wolves, going down to league one the mcarthy way in style of course oh yes
2 & 4. I think Mr Mowbray has identified defence as a problem (but then again my Gran could’ve identified that!). Now conceded 8 in 3 games including 2 against Shrewsbury , not good enough! None of our 3 defensive signings have played in those games (Carson, Zuiverloon , Cech). With more signings to come I don’t think the friendly results mean much.
