Siege man faces court

A man was appearing in court today following a five-hour siege in a busy Wolverhampton street.

The 33-year-old was due before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court charged with four counts of burglary and one of threatening to commit damage.

The man was arrested at around 7.45pm on Thursday night following the drama in the loft of a house in Bushbury Lane. More than 100 onlookers gathered as police flooded the street and some residents were evacuated.
