A pair of fitness fans from Wolverhampton will be putting their stamina to the test by stepping out in the Great North Run.

Francesca Appleton, aged 28, from Brewood, and 33-year-old Nicky Tang from New Invention have spent weeks training for the annual fundraiser which will be held in Newcastle on Sunday, October 5.

The pair are building up their fitness levels with the help of personal fitness instructor Adrian Davies, who works from Wolverhampton’s Esporta Gym off Stafford Road.

Francesca has been getting into shape with the help of 45-year-old instructor Adrian for the past 18 months and when she decided she wanted to raise cash by stepping out in the fundraiser, Adrian’s girlfriend Nicky decided to sign up too.

The pair are now hoping to raise around £600 for research into bowel cancer following the gruelling fitness regime, which has included running, cross training and gym workouts.

Adrian said: “It is really great to help someone get fit and help them be able to take part in a 13-mile race.

“I will get a lot of satisfaction myself knowing I’ve helped them get there and I am really proud of them.”

Anyone who would like to sponsor the pair should call 07873 621242.
