Jonno primed for Premier season

greening22.jpgAlbion captain Jonathan Greening believes helping the Baggies cement their Premier League place would match any of his previous Hawthorns achievements.

Greening is a veteran of the club’s ‘Great Escape’ and led the side to Championship glory last season. He reckons an extended stay in the Premier League would be equally sweet.

He said: “My first year at the club was the Great Escape, which was absolutely brilliant and winning the Championship last year was also brilliant.

“We’ve now got another season to look forward to in the Premier League.

“If I can help keep the club at that level until I finish playing football, that would be a dream come true.

“I think the Premier League’s the place to ply your trade. In my opinion, it’s the best league in the world.”

Greening is now eyeing the chance to end his career in the top flight, after beginning his playing days there with Manchester United and plying his trade there for Middlesbrough.

He said: “I’ve got three years left on my contract and if the whole squad and me can keep West Brom in the Premier League for that period, it would be amazing.

“You want to play in the top league. It would be great if we can do that with West Brom. I’m sure we’ve got the ability to do it.”
