Odense coach Lars Olsen warns his side could wreck Villa’s UEFA Cup dream after they booked an Intertoto Cup date with Martin O’Neill’s men.
The Danes’ 2-0 win over TPS Turku completed a 4-1 aggregate success, so they will now host Villa in the first leg of the third and final round on Saturday, before the return tie at Villa Park a week later.
A place in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round awaits the winners and Olsen, who skippered Denmark to their Euro 92 triumph, admits the odds are stacked against his team.
He insists they can spring a surprise and will be sure to have drawn hope from Villa’s sluggish display in Saturday’s 2-1 friendly defeat to FC Zurich.
He said: “We like to be in possession of the ball but this time we’ll be the underdogs. We won’t get as many chances, so we have to score with the chances we do get.
“We’ll have to see. They’re an English Premier League team but why can’t we take them by surprise?”
