Manager Mick McCarthy has revealed he signed Chris Iwelumo at the second time of asking for Wolves – as Ian Harte checked in on trial.
Big striker Iwelumo signed a two-year deal for Wolves, just 12 months after the Molineux boss was pipped for his signature by Charlton.
Former Republic of Ireland left-back Harte, 30, has been released by Sunderland after three years with Levante and has joined his new team-mates for a two-week trial.
McCarthy was delighted to have signed Iwelumo and believes he can do a real job at Molineux.
He said: “I’ve known him for quite a while. We actually tried to sign him from Colchester when he was there but I think the deal had already been done, because Phil Parkinson had left Colchester to go to Charlton.
“I’m delighted to sign Chris. He adds a physical presence and experience as he’s coming up to 30.
“He’s played lots of games and scored goals, certainly in the last three years during which time he’s scored 44 goals.”
Iwelumo becomes the second oldest player to sign for McCarthy at Wolves, after departed skipper Gary Breen.
He said: “His experience will help. Just from talking to him I know he is a good fellow, which is important because there are a lot of young players about the place.
“While it’s great to have athletism, fitness, youth and desire, it’s also nice to have experience. I am sure he’ll help the younger lads.”
The mutual respect between manager and new player is clear to see, with Iwelumo highlighting the ‘McCarthy factor’ after becoming Wolves’ fourth summer signing.
The former Stoke striker spoke with ex-team-mates Karl Henry (Stoke) and George Elokobi (Colchester) before making the move and the verdict was the same - they all praised McCarthy.
He said: “I’m really close with Karl and George and they all speak really highly of the gaffer. I was room-mates with Karl for three-and-a-half years so I’m still in touch with him.
“I had a chat with Andy Reid as well, who said he was fantastic and that speaks volumes.”

Harte?? Dont need another left back!
Ian Harte, Interesting…
Left Back and very experienced.
Ian Harte ??? !!! How many left-backs do we need? We went for years with managers ignoring that position - never any competition for Naylor and now we’ve got Elokobi,Gray,D.Jones,Mulgrew - why take Harte on trial? (Great at free kicks - crap defender). Oh, of course - he used to play for Sunderland AND he’s Irish!! SSDD
Don’t need Ian Harte thanks, Elokobi, Gray and Daniel Jones on the left are plenty of cover!
3 YOU ARE A PRIZE PLANK!!!!!!
long ball big lad up front
wolves the new stoke
Ian Harte at left back and a switch for big George to the centre?
ian harte does that mean grays not signng?
wolves the new stoke, ill settle for that, they thumped us last year, was there seen it,and they got promoted.
3. Well done on the most obvious post of the day.
We are looking for experience, you are looking for a thump.
Iwelumo
On a more positive note he is a box to box striker who puts in one hell of a shift and he is hungrier than John Hartson.
Ian Harte ??
Played for sunderland, irish was young and hungry 10 years ago and he is available for nothing !
Our ambition is scary.
“Happy days are here again…….”
Ian Harte how many left backs do we want or is it becuase Micky Gray aint signing on this season.
ian harte signs we may score a free kick for a change
3 - fair comment
im sure iwelumu has Irish relatives ha ha
I always rated Ian Harte highly. But obviously that was when Leeds were Champions League Semi-Finalists. Obviously past it now as he can’t get into Sunderlands squad. No better than Micky Gray tho. Maybe this means Gray isn’t signing?
nothing wrong with harte, hes experienced, probably quicker than gray, and can cover in a couple of positions
not sure about harte, good free kicks but not what he used to be
Ian Harte eh? Interesting, particularly considering we do not require any cover at all in that position. I think Mick is just letting him train with us deliberately so he can have a laugh at all the ‘Irish/Sunderland’ merchants on here screaming and shouting and getting all wound-up about it. And it seems to have worked… lol. I’m sure Mick must find as much amusement in your rantings as the rest of us do!
Charlton’s eagerness to sell Iwelumo after only one season shows that he is a limited player at higher levels. He’d be great in a relegation scrap, but the failure of Iwelumo (and his old Colchester strike partner Cureton at Norwich) show that this particularly successful partnership was greater than the sum of it’s parts. Iwelumo is a pretty average player, and Wolves will never get value for their investment unless they drop Keogh or SEB in favour of him so he can build up a new partnership. And dropping either of those players in favour of Iwelumo would be backward-thinking.
I also find it hard to see how Wolves will recoup any of their investment on a near 30 year old who has spent his entire career in the lower leagues.
As for Harte, he’s always been carp and we don’t need any more left-backs.
Central midfielders please Mick?
harte would be another good signing.. George could be poss centre? Although I have to admit that I don’t rate Elokobi at all… more luck than judgement and it’s a matter of time before he’s found out at this level.
More sunderland players more Irish players MORE STRIKERS…… ARGHHHHH!!!!!
“probably quicker than Gray”
OMG
I’ve heard that Michael Gray has got a couple of good offers on the table from other Champ’ clubs …. WWFC are offering an incentive based package where the other are better basic wages … ie Birmingham and Doncaster!
He’ll be gone in a week
11. The ‘loony’ part of your name is about right…
…how can anyone be hungrier than John Hartson?!
6 why do albion fans get on our page is it because they are jealous
i wouldnt mind being the new stoke they thumped us and the albion last year, yeh does everyone now the “mighty albion” pathetic.
10. Bring it on. Gray’s got the experience and MM won’t play him in front of Elokobi, so why add another wage in that position? The experience we are looking for is needed in the middle of the park. 5. No need to get abusive -I’ll get Nick Phillips to thump you - he’s hard (apparently).
another striker *yawns*
I thought he was older than 30 (Harte), good signing if he impresses.
Nick Phillips…. GROW UP! This is a message board on personal opinions, not pathetic threats by a pondlife.
I feel sorry for Daniel Jones, all these numptys coming to wolves suggests he will be looking to go out on loan and probably to a new club. I guess Little, Gleeson, M.Davies will be looking life away from the Moli. Cheers MM, another sunderland reject, surprised that Jon Stead isnt here, we know how great he was in the premiership!
Harte use to have a sweet left foot at free kicks - Is big George being moved to centre half alongside Stearman? Interesting…..
Is Harte quicker than Gray? Anyone know?
6) Clueless….? Long ball up front when we have 2 wingers that would walk into your team ie they will be running down the flanks.
Anyway worry about your own team and the lack of signings!
No harm in having a look at Harte. My first thought was the same as no 7. George would make a pretty intimidating centre back, particularly as Berra and Shackell seem to be slipping away. I can’t believe Gray is stalling for money or looking at other playing options, must be he’s considering hanging up his boots. Hope he signs up again I think he did a great job for us last season. Still a little confused where Daniel Jones fits in.
Signing Harte would allow Elokobi to concentrate on talking to the E&S.
We haven’t had any comments from him this week and it’s late Monday afternoon. I hope he’s okay
Can’t help thinking that getting Harte in may give Gray a kick up the back side to sign his deal! But no harm in taking a look, one injury to Jarvis and Elokobi and we’re down to bare bones on the left. I think Iwelumo is a physical presence - bench player to come on and see out games which we’re winning or add an aerial threat when we’re 1 down! We havent got a 6ft something striker so suppose it was gonna happen
Berra is about to sign I think…
He is not on his club’s pre-season tour of Ireland and is in negotiations. (see sky sports for confirmation re pre-season tour)
ian harte will look good for 20 games in the championship this season hit a couple of free kicks that will have us out of our seats and no transfer money. Is it the news we have all been looking for…NO, BUT IT ISNT BAD NEWS.
do we still need a midfielder and central defender yes do we still need a captain yes but stop moaning and groaning, does anybody not think this is going to be the most competitive championship ever!! we need all the players we can get.
Harte can be be left mid too i think. good cover for Jarvis and I wouldnt mind having him on the books.
I’ve been told about the Gray/Blues link also …. Gray is s’psed to be givin’ it some “pay me more or im off” stuff.
I think MM has got in Harte on trial to say to Gray “alright then mate - sign up or push off”
All this critical stuff about Harte, for goodness sake, at the moment he’s only on a trial!!!
30. It is not a personal opinion though is it, it is the typical prejudice moaning crap (sunderland / irish connection) which was the BS we had last season. Crawl back in your own pond you numpty.
Don’t tell me to grow up, or should I just have called him a prize plank like 5.?
Harte is exactly the kind of experience we need to balance the squad, yet still people can have a go.
Pathetic.
Harte, Irish and ex-Sunderland. That makes sense!
24 S*U*P*E*R
WOOOSH that went right over your bright head didn’t it son…..it was meant to be funny ha ha
24 SUPER
Vindaloony was being clever, obviously too clever for some.
25) Jealous of what exactly.
32) who do you have who would walk into our team. Kites (the man with no bottle) murray (the crock) Eclles Cake(with his handbag) get real.
Dont be so touchy i was merley pointing out the signing of a big center forward may indicate that you will be playing the same boring unattractive inadequate football agin next year.
Actually after typing that i realise i am jealous
TOOLS
Good to see another striker and another left back. An Irishman from Sunderland too, bonus!
If Michael Gray goes it is a disgrace. By far our best player last season, Mccarthy and Moxey should be busting a gut to get him signed up again. Elokobi is a very good player but is liable to making mistakes as shown at the end of last season. Gray is by far the better left back and we need to sign him up again. Ian Harte is a joke aswell. Absoloutely pointless in bringin him in.
Surprise surprise another sunderland reject at the club thats all we need, its a wonder McCarthy hasn’t tried to change our kit from the old gold & black to the red & white stripes & changed our name to sunderland B’
Comment 41, touchy….! Never mind mate, you might just develop a sense of humour. I bet your pond is bigger than mine. Go on admit it, I bet you say that to all the guys hey big boy… lol
i’m not sure about MM’s thinking. He trying to get promotion like he did at sunderland by buying limited quality but battlers like iwelumo, who could do well with the right service, but will not cut it if we get to the prem.
Dare i say it I prefer mowbrays thinking of creating a quality squad, which easily won promotion on that basis and he now has the nucleus of a squad that can survive in the prem
Is this Thick Mick’s version of singing Ince. MM’s idea of experience is playing for Colchester and Charlton.
Ince played for West Ham, Liverpool, Man United, and Internazionale Milano. He captained England as well as playing at Middlesborough and Wolves at the end of his career.
Can somebody explain to Thick Mick that he hasn’t signmed another Ince!
Surely, not even Turnip Head will sign another Sunderland reject with Eire experience. You couldn’t invent it!
OUT OF DARKNESS COMETH AN ONCOMING TRAIN!
6. shows what you know.
2 of the best wingers around and you think we will play long ball.
take a look at your own team, do they actually realize you need to improve the squad to even compete in the prem.
45. who would walk into your team.
1.kites.
2.jarvis.
3.Hennessey.
4.SEB.
shall i go on.
only one tool on here and thats you.
signed any players this week.
Going down the Tony Moany way.with a whimper of course.
I think for £400k it isnt such a bad signing. I mean we still have keogh who letsw be honest didnt do to bad last season and vokes who is yet to proove himself. He causes lots of trouble in the box. Besides if all doesnt work out with him we still got january transfer window.
At a reasonable wage, and a 1-year contract I cant see any problem in signing Harte. He will be okay at this level, but is clearly not Premiership material anymore.
Great, we can get rid of Eboki now & hopefully Collins also !
36 Berra is reportedly being tracked by Glasgow Rangers who will pay more for him as the Shittu deal has fallen through due to the players wage demands - If true, Rangers would be the obvious choice ala european football, stiil in Scotland more money etc etc
41. Just to clarify my opinion Nick, I am neither prejudiced, nor one of the moaners. I’ll take on board that my comment re Sun’land/Irish connection was a little bit boring, considering all the similar comments last season and for that I apologise, but no smoke without fire eh ? And with regard to the experience angle, I can only repeat my earlier comment: what is the point of having another experienced left-back, when the one we’ve already got (Gray) will not be played in place of Elokobi. We need experience granted, but we also need a balanced squad - we didn’t have that last year - it was top-heavy with strikers and we played several of them out of position, in order to accomodate them. What we don’t need this season is a squad with 5 left-backs (ok, I know Mulgrew will probably go soon, but hopefully you get my point). Like I said, I’m not a moaner, boo-boy or even a prize plank - I just wanna see a well-balanced, well motivated squad this season and I wanna see us give chances to the likes of Daniel Jones and Mark Little.
Why sign another left back if MM thinks that George Elokobi is going to be the new Roberto Carlos, and we have a good young left back in Jones waiting for his chance……… As for the signing of Iwelumo, MM has always had a little large partnership up front, which means long ball football….. Why have i renewed my season ticket eh???
Whatever happens, Iwleumo will give 100% when he comes on as sub!!!
I still think your a striker short? Its always nice to have 8 or 9 to choose from
Stephen Ward, Andrew Keogh, Stephen Elliott, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Jay Bothroyd, Chris Iwelumo,
Sam Vokes
We got our BIG NAME STRIKER? Iwelumo, 7 letters -
its a pretty big name - bigger than Bull, Mutch, Kelly, Keough, Blake, Rush, but the same number as Shearer - you never know….
its 8 letters!
More Dalglish than Shearer perhaps?
HAHAHA..SO ROY KEENE’S PUT THE BIN BAGS OUT..AND MUPPET’S HAVIN’ A MOOCH TO SEE IF THERE’S ANYTHING WORTH HAVIN’.
GOIN NOWHERE THE WANDERERS WAY..IN STYLE OF COURSE..OH! YES.
Iwelumo is a decent signing and another good, differnt option, addition to the squad. 4 new players compared to albions who had them on loan last season. The are going to struggle
Reading some of the comments on here makes my blood boil. The season aint started and you are moaning. Harte is on trial, that doesnt mean he we are going to sign him, if he does then great more competition the better. D Jones can also play left wing. Iwelumo - good signing big, strong and can finish. I forgot we have the freddy lovers on here, shall i remind you what he did for this club, oh yeah thats right nothing.
FOR GOD SAKE GET BEHIND MICK AND THE BOYS FOR ONCE.
Qulaity striker…puts a full shift in from what I’ve seen…good in the air & quick with both feet, Micks got to be congratulated on what could be a very potent strike force. As for Harte, not quite sure….used to be an admirer of his but havent seen him for a couple of years, guess thats why Mick wants him on trial..cant hurt as I think the centre half position could be Elokobi’s for the taking..that way we have centre with l/h experiance, experianced left back WITH left back cover on the bench..nice to have those options.
Think things are panning out to a well designed plan, the guys have obviously been working hard berfore season end & kept it quiet….now we reaping the rewards when b4 we have lost the players to so called “better” teams.
Well done Mick, Jez n, all at Wolves..but expect at least another 2 signings in next few days from what I’ve heard.
The futures bright, the futures ORANGE…n Black.
45, who do we have that would walk into your team? you are interested in olofinjana so you kinda shot yourself in the foot ther. kightly and murray would walk into your team and you know it, my nans a better keeper than that excuse you have.
Iwelumo
At Charlton for one year 46 app and only 10 goals thirty years old , another old git we will have to get rid of at the end of the season ( and no one will want him ).
Ian Harte
Signed for Sunderland for a year after 7 app and 6 months later was put onto the transfer list and no one wanted him until now.
Says it all.
Another good addition battle his heart out.
baggie-in the prem and still our comments rub you up,your understanding of football is second to “none”, but again you did win the championship-even if it did take you 88 years to do it-2096 and counting!
As for Kites it took kick as you go robinson to stop him, Murray-you can’t even get the england reject robinson, has for ebanks-blake it could have been worse he could have used a knife! then you cretins could really take the P.
all on the cheap well done morgan and moxley even stoke are offering 3 mill 4 players unlike we wen we were in the prem mr morgan has opened his wallet wat a few million 4 the ones in we will stome the champship wat vision we have up the wolves
At championship level iwelumo will be a good signing, watched him against us last season and always looked a threat. The squad is really starting to take shape, although I would like to see some quality cover for Kights being brought in.
3 and 14, typical comments from clueless people who just want to slate everything that wolves do, they cant do right from wrong with you doc martin and ben sherman wearing brigade can they? oh and dont forget the “hard man” checked baseball cap……nice!
i am a removal man .and i moved ian harte last year.he told me he was 1 day from signin last season.but his agent rang and told him sunderland were payin more.he also said mm was the best manager he had worked with ?
who was right back in the 1st half at Wrexham on Saturday? They were incredibly light weight, and need to get in the gym asap! Oh and gave the ball away cheaply way to often… hope there is more to come from them, as they showed some nowse, but 50:50 if they’d be a regular given the dire showing of all but a few!
He scored 10 goals last year which is more than Kyle Lafferty and they wanted zillions for him. His strike rate is pretty good for a target man who should be feeding SEB and at £400,000 not much risk involved in the deal!
I think Harte would be alright for cover, and he is (or was, we’ll see) also one the best free kick takers in the world.
*I’d also like to say I was at Wrexham and thought Mark Davies was awesome!! He is like a big money signing if he stays fit.
Harte is only having a trial
A big guy who is no good in the air, or on the ground.
34 brilliant!
Ian Harte is a steady player lots of experience bit if a suprise but shows MM is having a good look around–May not get in but at least shows that our Manager is out and about–Still need a good experienced leader–Has Campo turned us down–Interesting The Story goes on–Crazy Dave
9 and Stoke ALWAYS beat the boggies!!
Like it….
Good signing I reckon. And as for Harte, like the sound of him & for goodness sake he is on trial. You lot stress me out!
My prediction. Good bet get your money on it. Those three crap teams that where promoted will be relegated.
I Hate Muppet Mick, but lets give him a chance of pulling this season off and lay off him a bit!!
we should support the team 100% i think we have a making of a great young side, if we play the right players, davies for example!! come you wolves and mick show what we can do this season and bring back good attacking football with loads of points on the board. also lets beat Plymouth on the first day because i have from that area and get stick every season because we never beat the scum. and as for you wba tesco carrier bags, you will not stay up there long, you are a little club like luton ha ha ha
rich
wolves forever
The season ticket has arrived but I’m dreading going down the Molineux. The thought of having to put up with an ever growing moronic section of Wolves fans is not that appealing.
The start of the season should be just that, a new start but the anti MM brigade are already looking for that first misplaced pass, the first sitter missed followed by the inevitable chants for a ‘gypo’ who no longer plays for us.
So who’s the next target for the boo boys, Hennesey, SEB or maybe Kightly?
I can’t believe that the Irish / Sunderland thing can be banded about again. After all this guy has only got Champions League experience and it was really easy for him to dislodge Denis Irwin from the Irish team. Wolves fans really are unbelievable.
Lets see Dan Jones in this team from the start, rest him when he needs it, but keep him in the 1st team. Build from local youth, that the future of this club.
”released by Sunderland”
what a suprise, and another striker!!!
Nick Phillips- I think you are lowering the Tone of this Blog–Grow up please or go and stand in the corner-There a good fellow.
Harte has experience he has played in the Spanish league and can hold his own when he puts his mind to it - An interesting pair-Succesful clubs are full of players who landed after a move around–Things are certainly getting more interesting so see how things go–
Okay –Nick you can come out- now behave–Crazey Dave
34 WW.
That’s very funny. Could do with more of your type on here and less of the abusive ones.
why would any Wolves fan care what WBA fans think when 9 WBA fans comment’s out of 10 are gonna be negative or just to wind us up.
Pretty much all my mates are WBA fans and you can y’know actually talk to them in a cival way about footie rather then pettyness n were alot youngger then msot fo you lot
why would any Wolves fan care what WBA fans think when 9 WBA fans comment’s out of 10 are gonna be negative or just to wind us up.
Pretty much all my mates are WBA fans and you can y’know actually talk to them in a cival way about footie rather then pettyness n were alot youngger then msot of you lot
no 6 I’ll take being the new stoke if it gets us to the premier league, thank you very much.
As for the long ball bit. I don’t see how a team that ever included John Hartson can critisize.
Ian Harte, lots of experience, good left foot, FREE, why exactly are we complaining again?
Return on investment? If we get promoted, next season we would probably earn £70m more than if we stay in this division. So getting promoted is what really matters in getting returns on your investment.
It’sMixuPaatelainen’s (19) main problem is that he can’t see promotion. Penny wise and pound foolish!
And what’s IMP rabbiting on about Iwelumo failing at Charlton for. Iwelumo joined Charlton a year ago and played 32 (14) League matches–that is, he appeared in every game–scoring 10 goals. If he does that for Wolves, I’ll be happy. Our no.1 striker will be Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
And why can’t Iwelumo play with SEB? Sylvan is a very exciting player, but he lacks height and doesn’t have exceptional elevation. The 6′3″ Iwelumo sounds a perfect partner for SEB to me–the long and the short, the dynamic and the calm. I’m thrilled by this prospective partnership.
Then move Andy Keogh back into an attacking midfield roll with David Jones and play with Kites and Jarvis on the wings. The attack’s going to be brilliant.
Then with Karl Henry, Mark Davies, Dan Jones and Micky Gray, backed up by Stephen Gleeson, we have a goodish holding midfield, although a new signing would not go amiss. IMO, Foley and Elokobi are good wide-backs, backed up by Little, Salmon and, possibly, Harte–no problem there.
The main problem is likely to be in central defence, where last season we seemed to have about four Mr Beans. If Lee Collins goes out on loan, this season we only have Craddock, Stearman, Neill Collins and er, er, er, erm. Still looks better than last year, but doesn’t inspire confidence that Premiership here we come! We need to buy another quality central defender if we are going to get good return on our investment.
Do Wolves fans appear on the Albion site, like Baggies fans do on ours? I can’t believe it (I’ve never been to the Baggies’ site once)!
These Baggies seem completely obsessed by Wolves. They seem to be besotted by Wolves, and fascinated by them. Love-sick little drips.
You’d have thought this year, they’d have enough to think about looking forward to the Premiership. But no! They’re spellbound by Wolves and can’t drag their eyes off them. Poor things!
60.MM is only using the 4 strikers the others are all available to leave.
just because your just selling and not buying doesn’t mean we have to do the same.
60M and you don’t want to spend any.
Balancing the books the peace way.
94.My baggie mate is jealous of molineux he described the Hawthorns as a ‘grassed area with 4 beach huts’.
6. Don’t mind being the new Stoke if it means stuffing you lot like turkey’s every Christmas…in the Prem. TP has had a knack of keeping his team fresh all season, yes tough uncompromising and they kick you if you try to play football, but results are results and they weren’t too bad against Baggies this last season, lets hope their form continues against you next season.
all Charlton did when he was in the side was long ball, new tacticks from MM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quality NOT Quantity is what we need
ha ha ha ha ha… sorry but you lot are so negative and the hatred b€etween you all is mad! Do you follow the same team??
Good to be a baggie…
Iwelumo… lol lol lol….
After the recent promising signings I see we are back to square one. Ex Sunderland rejects again!!!!! As for Iwelumo why did he cost anything at all? We have better forwards already at the club, not counting SEB. Our premiership ambitions seem to have been lost at a stroke. Beginning to look like another goal shy campaign.
Right then in response.
Firstly post 14 was not me it was some mischief maker so ignore that.
SUPERSTARDJWOLVES - not going to bother with you, you call names and then call me touchy for responding. Our conversation is over.
RAZOR - Fair enough, I knew that when I looked at the posts there would be the usual Sund/Irish post and you did not let me down :-] It would only have been a light back hander in jest anyway.
However when I see the club saying it is looking for the experience players as per Ince and Irwin, then get Harte in on trial (TRIAL! by the way people not signed) I see that as a positive move. Yes we may have cover, but with Mulgrew likely on the way and Gray pushing his luck that cover may go.
The balanced squad is also aided by the presumed lack of defenders at the moment.
So rather than moaning at the first opportunity, I would like to see more balanced views on here, although that is unlikely.
The Tone of this blog is fairly low anyway, if anything I feel I have added a bit of entertainment.
UP THE WOLVES!, we do all support them…..right?
Nick,,, I am hurt! Just when we were getting along like a house on fire. I’ll buy you a pint mate if it helps….
Several… :-]
Harte has experience at the highest levels. Giving him a trial is not a bad move. It may wake Gray up to resign quick! If Gray decides he isn’t staying, then I wouldn’t mind Harte in the squad. If we fail to sign another centre back then being able to use Elokobi as cover there without compromising the left back position is not a bad thing.
As for all the arguments about Wolves becoming “The New Stoke”, well, who got promoted? We still have all the talented players we should have had last season were it not for injuries. In fact, we may even start this season with several of them fit! If that isn’t working and there’s ten minutes left then having one or two who can go “route one” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I also think Iwelumo in the box knocking down the crosses from Jarvis and Kights for SEB and the midfield boys to hit could be effective. It’s great having two of the best “potentials” on the wings but if we have no players who can meet crosses then they may as well stay at home!
Why can we not use Daniel Jones ?
iwelumo may be worthwhile addition at 400k, but can only see him being squad player, not first team maybe coming off the bench, i await to be convinced though.
harte was good at leeds was it 3-4 years ago, anyone know how things went in spain with levante and i know he was at sunderland last season but this seemed to not work out. is he fit and as others have said does it mean grays moving and maybe elokobi is going to cb.
honestly who knows with mick and his buys, formations etc he now says we are after another striker.who?
are we back in for mclean?.
who are going to be out first choice strikers?
obviously seb alongside any of the following keogh, iwelumo, vokes. s ward, (s elliot + bothroyd both still here) plus whoever else he brings in.
its alright bringing in more players and i have to be convinced thet are up to the task but also i have said the last summer when we bought eastwood that we also we needed quality whatever the age. this summer we also now have to shift out our unwanted players(that nobody seems to be interested in), we also have to give our youngsters a fair go they need to be given a chance. otherwise what is the point of the acadamy.mick goes on about experience at a young age how are our homegrown players going to get this unless on loan.
anyway always look forward to the new season and hope my optimism last longer than last season the writing was on the wall long before xmas.
come on the wolves
Big Chris will score you goals wolfs. Hate to say this, but ee by gum mick has got a good squad together. Worthy of a few shillings. Think Ladbrokes will be having a visit.
Come on you Potters!!
I think Iwelumo will be a good signing and at 400k it is worth a punt, he has scored goals at this level so he has the experience. Why go overboard about Harte it is a trial & if Micky Gray goes it makes sense to get a bit of experience to help out.
Nick Phillips-You redeamed yourself Okay-The movement is interesting it can only get better I hope–Regards all Crazey dave. Can we now move on.
Far too many players on the wage bill that should not even be at the club - How many strikers do we need, or is it that MM really has no faith in his own abillity as a manager? Or translated into MM speak - I’m not sure who my best front two are yet?
It doesnt really matter how much we spend - IF our tactics dont change drastically, we will again experience the same 8 man defence - with two headles chickens desperately trying to pick up any scraps in every game! A midfield that is constantly helping out a defence that is overrun and wingers and strikers that are expected to run at pace for 90 mins a game - something is gonna give! Wonder which striker is gonna take Freddie’s place this season as prize patsy? Play 12 full games and the rest as sub for 5 mins a game

PS NEVER believed that the club really intended bringing in Berra or Shackell - just more spin to sell season tickets from our beloved spin machine Mr Moxey - next thing we will be told that someone with Prem quality is on his way - rumour in the media and hey presto a few more season tickets are sold!
