Dennison belief in wing two

es5912robbie-dennison.jpgRobbie Dennison believes Wolves fans are in for a treat with wing wonders Michael Kightly and Matt Jarvis out to terrorise the Championship this season.

Former wideman Dennison was back at Molineux yesterday to launch the ‘Out of the Darkness – Sherpa Van Lads Dinner.’

Now 45, the ex-Northern Ireland international covers Wolves every week in his role as a summariser for a local radio station.

He believes the sight of Kightly and Jarvis in tandem will bring back the thrill factor to Molineux.

Injury robbed them of playing in the same team in all but the final few games of last season.

He said: “We didn’t really see much of Kightly and Jarvis last season because of their injuries.

“It was only right at the end of the season that they starting playing together.

“It will be something to look forward to because ‘Jarvo’ was fantastic at different times and ‘Kites’ has been brilliant since day one.

“They break teams down with their pace and ability and they create chances.”

Wolves fans have always taken to the wide men. Now Kightly and Jarvis are hoping to follow them.

Dennison added; “Wingers have always gone down well at Wolves and hopefully we’ll see plenty of these two in action.

“Teams come here and set up to stop you playing and it’s up to us to have the players to break that down.

“Both these lads have the pace and ability to hurt teams. Just give them the ball and they will cause problems.”

Wise words Robbie. In his playing days Wolves were never as good without him. Very under-estimated. Cheers fella.

There’s no better sight in football than seeing players taking the opposition on, and thats exactly what Kites and Jarvis do.

My only worry is that neither Keogh or SEB are particularly good in the air. Hopefully Vokes will be!

I’m looking forward to seeing Kightly and Jarvis at their best together too. Kights was definitely not fully match fit for those last few games of the season.

Not such good news about Stephen Ward having another go on the wing. He’s never looked good there and I wanted to see him have an extended go in the centre. But let’s hope it means there’s good news about another striker coming in!

I can’t wait for them to get started. On the downside I believe their progress will be monitored by clubs in the prem and if they get off to a flyer we will struggle to keep hold of them in the January transfer window.

I’m looking forward to seeing Ward down the wing as Jarvis sits on the bench and Thick Mick shows us all he couldn’t care less what we think.

Couldn’t agree more, I think this is gonna be a massive season for both Jarvis and Kightly, and fingers crossed if we can keep both of them fit, it could be the difference between promotion and staying down.

The main problem last year was that we were not creating enough chances, and both of these two were a big miss when not playing, so i’m confident that this season will show a marked improvement

we still need some real cover for kightly and jarvis. the fact that they both spent a lot of last season out should be reason enough to be cautious, and obviuously there are bans, substitutions etc to think about.

Gray and especially Ward just don’t cut it on the wing, though they do try their best. If we had had a natural wing player for cover we would have made the play-offs … fact. Lets not make the same mistake again.

Who are you after now and when is the Russian coming to play?
Jarvis and Kites are certainly better than your £3 million winger Brunt!

  28. brummie rob wolves said:

Ward in his first season was decent up front… so stick to that position. As for cover on the wings, Gobern is a quality winger and Dave Jones - although not a winger - can play out on the left. So if MM uses his brains, we do not have to resort to playing Ward, Elliot, Potter, Keogh, for example, out of position!

  29. Wildey said:

i dunno, i like s ward he’s played alright down the left, not as gd as jarvis but i like him, give him a chance, i recks he’ll be gd. just wait and see, though we do need a right winger for sub. P.S. hurry up getting berra and get a striker then we’ll av a mint team, though i’d get cover for right back. actually i reckon we might see gray feature on da wings again this season, we’ll see what tricks McCarthy’s got up his sleeve. a new striker and we’ll be fine. UP DA WOLVESSSSSSS!!!!!!! CUM ON!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!! de de dede Micheal kightly

Jarvis is a quality player and Kites just top class, I think defences wont know whats happened to them as I reckon they will switch wings regulary, which is a nightmare for any team…..

With regards to Strikers Why not David Nugent …. hasnt done it for Pompey but amazing for preston .. so why not ??? and pompey just signed crouch!!! so why not ?

  38. Bournemouth Wolf said:

We stilll need a decent striker WHO SCORES GOALS…Pity Chopra was not on the menu as he has previous in the championship and we let Phillips go to Bham who also has previous 43 goals in 81 starts..

There is not much left to go for. We also need a skillful midfielder who scores goals as this has always been the problem a LACK OF GOALS

  39. Nippy Lobo said:

Pye green wolf (24). Daniel Jones says he wants to concentrate on trying to get the left-back spot this season. Anyway, after Foley and Elokobi, the only cover we’ve got at wide-back is Mark Little and Mark Salmon. So sounds good if Dan has a serious go there.

Little and Salmon are both exciting prospects, so if Dan is a success it opens up the possibility of Elokobi or Little moving into the central defence to bolster that very stretched department. Right now, if Lee Collins goes out on loan again (already spoken of), we’ve only got Craddock, Spearman and Neill Collins. Even with Berra (or equivalent), two or three injuries and our season could start sinking! So, for central defence, it could easily become a case of all hands on deck!

Therefore, I’m prepared to welcome Dan’s conversion to wide-back.
