Brothers spared jail in iron bar case

Two Dudley brothers who beat up a former friend during a row over stolen computer games have been spared jail. Neil Docker was hit with an iron bar during the violent brawl which left him with injuries to his face and jaw.

Brothers Dean and Carlton Miller were joined by friend Sandeep Gill to carry out the brutal attack in November last year.

All three men pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm at an earlier court hearing.

Carlton Miller, of Gill Street, Netherton, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. Dean Miller, aged 26, of Cochrane Road, Brierley Hill and 23-year-old Gill, of Tudor Terrace, Dudley, were both ordered to pay £600 in compensation for their part in the attack.

Wolverhampton Crown Court was told Carlton Miller had invited Mr Docker to his home after a row over computer games which Carlton claimed had been stolen from him.

When Mr Docker arrived at the house he was punched to the floor before struggling to his feet and being struck with an iron bar.

The court heard 29-year-old Carlton had wielded the metal bar while his younger brother, Dean and Gill had thrown punches.

Carlton then told Mr Docker he owed him £100 and drove the victim to his sister’s house where she paid the cash on his behalf and Mr Docker was released.

Sentencing the men, Judge Nicholas Webb said there was no evidence Mr Docker had stolen from Carlton Miller.
