Tranmere have signed Gambia international midfielder Edrissa Sonko on a one-year contract from League One rivals Walsall.

The 28-year-old, who can play on either flank and in the centre of midfield, joined Walsall last summer and made 37 appearances, scoring five times.

Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said: “I’m delighted to sign Edrissa. He’s a talented player who can play on either wing or in the centre of midfield.

“He has bags of pace and has the tricks to beat a defender. He has plenty of experience, has played across Europe and at international level and I’m glad he has decided to come to Tranmere.

“He will be a great addition to our team.”

Edrissa will be available for selection when Tranmere play Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Prenton Park on on Saturday.
