Mowbray signs up Grant as coach

petergrantgfy.jpgBaggies boss Tony Mowbray today appointed Peter Grant as first-team coach.

The former Norwich manager replaces Craig Shakespeare, who left  to become assistant boss at Leicester City.

Grant is a former team-mate of Mowbray from their Celtic playing days.

Mowbray said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Peter on board.

“Peter’s got great enthusiasm for the game and he’s got the experience of working in the Premier League at West Ham when they were very, very successful.

“We need to draw on that experience and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“I’m sure the players will enjoy working with him as the season goes on because of the enthusiasm he has for the game.

“I like working with football people who are passionate about the game and have an opinion.

“Peter’s definitely like that and I’m looking forward to debating teams, dissecting games and preparing for football matches with him.

“I played with him at Celtic for four years and he always gave 100 per cent every time he played and trained.

“I’m sure that transmits to his coaching as well.

“He’s a very committed person and hopefully he’ll enhance everything we’re doing here.”

Sorry, reading Terry’s mad posts can be infectious. There have been many previous examples of good coaches that don’t make it as managers. I can honestly say that I’m more than happy at this appointment.

He’s gone for him as he knows him and see’s him as a footballing man. Someone else who’s bought into the style of football Mogga’s bought to the Shrine. Another good appointment I’m sure!

Another example of Mowbray having ready made replacements??
I hope we can say the same if Phillips goes to blues!!

I was only asking on these boards last week if grant was still with us (you may remember TM allowed him to join our training sessions when he left Norwich), so I’m delighted to see him join us now - his teams always play football the right way (our way) and he will be a good asset to the club.

Agree with Bomber - we seem to replace every departure quite quickly and always with a quality appointment.

    LOVIN IT !!

You have to admit TM has some good contacts and I think he knows who he wants for every vacancy that has or will appear.Would love to see his short list.
