Elokobi believes in adding experience

wd2593886elokobi-3-tt-04.jpgDefender George Elokobi believes Wolves need to add experience to their ranks to become a more ‘balanced’ squad.

Manager Mick McCarthy has so far continued his ‘young and hungry’ view on signings with the arrival of Sam Vokes, Richard Stearman and David Jones – three of 16 signings he has made aged under 24.

Chief executive Jez Moxey has already said Wolves are trying to repeat the coup of signing Paul Ince and Denis Irwin six years ago to add some know-how to the youth of the other arrivals.

Now one of the younger signings – Elokobi – agrees.

He said: “I would say definitely we need experience. Sometimes it’s a good thing to have some experience in the team.

“We have had Gary Breen and Michael Gray and that can help us go a long way.

“We’ve also got Matt Murray coming back and that can only help us as we look forward to when the season starts.

“That said, the gaffer has signed three players who look like being very good players for the club.

“Their arrival is only going to help the team, and that’s only going to help us be more balanced and focused.

“We’re all looking forward to that and hopefully we haven’t seen the last of the signings, I’m sure there’s a couple more to come in.”

The former Colchester left-back believes the new regime will benefit the club in the long term.

He said: “It’s a good policy to sign players in this age bracket because everyone is hungry for success.

“Having young and hungry players helps the team as a whole. We’re all striving for the same thing which is promotion to the Premier League.”

Obviously the E&S has nothing important to report!
At least they didn’t drag anything up about Eastwood!!

I agree george but not just anyone. stelios or campo are free and would be superb additions we could use them sparingly. mind you, Neil collins getting 4 years is still unbelievable why should i pay to watch a player im better than?

It’s obvious to every man and his dog what we need. I’m sick of hearing about it…just get out there and sign them!

Yawn, do you think we can get through a day without this “young and hungry” phrase. It really is just a horrible phrase.
Sure we have a young squad but hungry……we have yet to see that.

Ben Watson has played a lot of games at this level and would be ideal for when Seyi goes. Nicky Maynard 2m of Crewe or Chopra 3m from Sunderland for upfront. Defence Berra & Shackell then bring on the premier league!

I say give Nolberto Solano a chance. He is available on a free after being released from West Ham. Please mick though another 2 centre backs of quality and pedigree wouldnt go amiss!!

    Totally agree Elokobi.

Lets get some experience in & get rid of the players who are out of their depth at Wolves.

Let start with yourself (clearly the worst (sorry second worst) player I have ever seen in a gold shirt))

How can we forget your parnter on the right Mr Collins - Officially the worst !

Is the PR department attributing the name of a player from a rota list to this same regurgitated article and instructing E & S to run it as brainwashing on a day when there is no real news?

  9. paigntonwolf said:

Is Elokobi on the E&S payroll? He seems to spend a lot of time giving out his opinion. Is he planning ahead for when he’s retired or don’t any of the other players want to talk? Lets’s cut out pointless talking and see some results on the pitch!! Off for another ice-cream now.

oi dutch wolf, elokobi is class nd i wud like to see u do better, hez only young so y bloody start on him now?! moron

Dutch Wolf. You are so wrong. Elokobi really impressed me last season and there is no doubt he is going to get better. I can only assume you don’t go to games or if you do then you have probably had a bit too much to drink.

It’s just E&S having one interview with Big George and dropping these in to four days worth of stories because they can’t be bothered to get off their backsides. Lazy journo’s that’s all. Looking forward to the new season and if we keep a fit and relatively consistant team, I reckon we have a good shot at automatic. George seems a descent player but just needs to work to get the consistancy in his final ball.

    Come on Wolves!

dutch wolf, what are you on about, elokobi is one of our best players, you are obviously an albion fan trying to cause a row on this article, guys………everyone should just ignor this fool.

Elokobie deffinately improved as the season went on but i really worry when he has to lay a 10 yrd pass. He gave the ball away a number of times when last man. As i say i do think he has improved and will definately be an important part of the jigsaw puzzle this season.

= promotion. although collins getting a 4 year deal anything can happen we also need a right back im not convinced by foley too lightweight

laughed at wolf - you could always add them to your investment portfolio - I hear you wheel and deal with all the “big money” men…. haaaaaaa !!

  19. wolveswolves said:

Elokobi is an hoofer, sure he’ll put the effort in but his distribution is better known as hitting the ball as hard and far up the field has he can.
As I said on another post, he’s a typical McCarthy player

  20. Loffing wolf! said:

Trouble is they don’t like to be paid peanuts especially as it will be probably their last contract. Solano or Campo would want way above what Moxey would be prepared to give them. Experience comes at a price with top class footballers.

  21. wolf said:

WISH THIS GUY WOULD DO HIS TALKING ON THE PITCH!

  22. wolf said:

4 couldn’t agree more, lets hear more about signing ‘QUALITY AND CLASS’

OH sorry forgot we have MM in charge and the only thing that counts is putting a shift in!!!

  23. Dutch Wolf said:

    12. elokobi is totally talentless & watching him last season was comical. This season he should wear a red nose & squirt the opponents with water from his flower !

  24. Happy_baggie said:

So he reckons that if you have team full of young players it would be a good idea to have 1 or 2 old heads in there too…. he’s no mug is he ?

And they say its hard being a manager….

  25. bubs said:

ELOKOBI IS SUPERB AND WILL GET BETTER BY THE GAME. AS FOR CHOPRA DOW BOTHA HE’S CRAP AND HAS PROVED HE’S NO GOOD IN THE PREM WHICH IS WOT WE ARE BUILDING FOR BUT HE MIGHT PUT A GOOD SHIFT IN SO HE’LL BE OK LIKE COLLINS, POTTER, STEPHEN WARD. WE MIGHT ASWELL GIVE SUNDERLAND £50 MILLION AND HAVE THEIR SQUAD CUZ THATS WOT MICK WANTS.
WE WILL WIN THE LEAGUE THOUGH THIS SEASON. CUM ON WOLVES

Every time that we attempt to discuss the effect of Ince and Irwin, Mad Mick joins in and translates that into how many appearances a player has had.

But 350 appearances in the Championship does not equate to 150 appearances in the Premiership, or Italian, Spanish, German and Dutch first divisions.

Mad Mick simply doesn’t understand what we are talking about when we use the term “experienced”. He personally never got beyond bone-crunching English League appearances, and has no conception of playing International class football in the rest of the world.

It’s all about putting in a shift! God, we are light-years behind the leaders with this moron managing the club!

The people on here who are saying we need to concentrate on quality and class, and getting on with the signings.

Do you honestlythink this is not happening????
Whenour new signings arrived we were really quite pleased. They came out of the blue, like everythig at WOlves, you dont know a thing until it happens. Now please let Jezdo what he does best and get in some quality at the right price. We are not going bac to the90s and getting ripped off by every prem league club.

Happy days are ahead, just stop trying to destroy eveything good about the club through your frustration.

Wait and see, the signings will arrive. They always do.

  28. wolveswolves said:

    27) May I remind you that half the players we bought last summer are now on the transfer list and no one wants them.

  29. Golden Blood said:

28; Elliott, Bothroyd, Easwood, Ward and Potter on the list.

Kites, Jarvis, SEB, Keogh, Foley, Elokobi, Henry, S.Ward, N Collins, D Edwards, Gray and the new guys Stearmen, Vokes and Jones are all in the new look Wolves.

Who cares about the other players who have failed. It happens in every club. Some players just dont cut it. AS you can see there is a very small minority of players leaving.

Players like Craddock, Hennesey and Murray also perform week in week out.

We seem to have more sucess than failure and that is why we will do well this season.

I for one am excited and I really hope Mick turns it around from average to superb. I am sure he can and I back the man.

    Come on Wolves.
