Fruit farmers near Wolverhampton have celebrated 30 years since they sold their first ever strawberry.

It was in 1977 that Richard Simkins and his wife Mary rented three acres of land in Essington from Richard’s father Bill.

The following July the couple opened their pick-your-own strawberry farm and the business is today still booming as Essington Fruit Farm.

Video journalist Nicky Butler went along to find out more about the business and the British love affair with strawberries.
