Mullen believes complex will attract

wd2813244jimmy-1-nb-23.jpgManager Jimmy Mullen believes Saddlers’ new £1m training complex will be a big asset in attracting new players to the club.

Walsall’s players have been using the site in Essington for the first time on their return to pre-season training.

The plush new facility was opened yesterday and Mullen believes any potential new recruits cannot fail but to be impressed.

He said: “From my point of view as a manager it’s a fantastic place to work. It’s a great selling point from a players’ point of view.

“If you bring a player here and show him what we’ve got, they’ve got to be impressed, there’s no doubt about it.

“It’s great to report somewhere, get changed, step outside and get on with your work.

“It’s a lot different to some places where you have to get changed, go in a car, go somewhere, then train, come back, get changed and then go home.

“This is our home for the next 33 years, this is our facility and we don’t have to go anywhere.

“This is equal to anything in League One and 90 per cent of the Championship.

“It is a facility we are looking forward to being in and working in and the environment here will be absolutely fantastic.”

Mullen also believes that not spending as much time at the Banks’s Stadium can help to improve performances in their League One campaign.

He insists players will get an extra buzz when they turn up on matchdays.

He said: “Instead of turning up there every single day including a Saturday for a matchday, there’s going to be a newness about it.”

I’d have thought that if Jimmy Mullen has a complex it’ll make players run a mile!
