Brewood ready for vital month

wicket_keeper.jpgChris Guest has pinpointed July as potentially the key month in his Brewood’s push for title glory.

Brewood are firmly in the race for Birmingham League cricket following Saturday’s comfortable seven-wicket success over Penkridge.

Guest is now gearing up for a series of showdowns against their Staffs Clubs promotion rivals.

After travelling to struggling Bloxwich on Saturday, Guest’s men face successive games with fellow high-flyers Pelsall, Cannock & Rugeley and Springvale.

He said: “We have got some really big games coming up in the next few weeks.

“We need to get on a roll as soon as possible, because the side that does will be the one that wins the league.”

Tim Friend took the honours with the ball against Penkridge, bagging a second successive five-wicket haul as the visitors were bowled out for 184.

New Zealand all-rounder Keir Bettley also claimed three wickets before leading the successful run chase with a classy unbeaten century.
